How does the "sticky" function work?

Hi there
How does the "sticky" function work in Photopost? I have made a "sticky" of a photo which appears on the front index "recent photos" page and I assume it means that the photo sticks where it is. However, subsequent photo uploads appear to be moving it along until it will soon go off the page. Am I understanding the "sticky" function incorrectly?

Sticky only applies within the showgallery category page; it does not apply in the photo feature boxes.
