making seperate categories within a user's main gallery

I have photopost installed on my site, and I would really like to have 2 categories for the user's main galleries. So that, when they upload a photo they can either decide to put it in one or the other. The main purpose of this is so that in the postbit info on vbulletin I can have the option to either view pictures of this members X or this members Y, instead of just linking to a gallery full of every random picture that they have uploaded.

Is there an easy way to do this with photopost? I'm using version 4.8.2

Thanks,
-Charlie

Hi Charlie,
In the Admin settings you can edit the categories to create whatever categories you want. When the user goes to upload they can select from a dropdown menu (the categories you created) which one to upload to. That is providing you have enabled the user to view the categories. This is a setting in the Admin section.

Does this answer your question? or am I way off base here?

Hello Charlie Donna,

I beleive Charlie you will need to upgrade to Photopost 5.2 for this.

You will need to create 2 categories in admin under edit categories and call them what you will. Members X and Members Y. You can then set the category layout to members gallery like so here

Category Layout?*
PhotoPost standard layout is a Gallery layout which shows all photos uploaded to that category. A Member Gallery shows photos grouped by users which then link to a gallery page of all that users photos in that category (similiar to the Members Gallery, but category specific).

Then Users would be able to pick which one to upload to and you could differentiate which one you want to link to.

Thanks for the response Chuck. I figured out how to seperate the user's photos. I am still having trouble with the vb integration though. Could you please direct me to instructions of how to integrate pp images into vb templates (I'm using pp version 4.8.2 and I haven't been able to find any).

Is there a way to use the display_gallery command to display image from a specific user and category without making changes to pp-inc.php, since it needs to be dynamic and able to change on the fly?

Thanks again,
-Charlie

Well your version of photopost does not have this block so you may need to upgrade but this is the instructions to include the block that was included from any version of 4.86 forward

PhotoPost Enhanced vB3 Index Integration

display_gallery does not show photos from a specific user.

A user gallery link is like such

http://www.domain.com/gallery/showga...&ppuser=USERID

Thanks again for the reply Chuck.

I'm looking through inc_features.php and I see where it says $q_switch= ... is there anyway to set it so that it draws random images from a specific gallery, and a specific userID?

I want to modify the vB user profile template to include images from a specific gallery for that user. I realize that you can link using that type of linke that you posted above, but I what I really want to do is display the images in the user's actual profile, not just have a link.

Thanks again,
-Charlie
