Allow users to post vBulletin BB code in ads?

Is there a way to allow users to post vBulletin BB codes, such as URL and IMG and B in their classifieds ads?

bbcode from vbulletin works fine if typed in the description fields etc. We call convert_markups which uses there markup if vb3 integration is on.

I must be doing something wrong, then. Please take a look here:

http://www.rs25.com/classifieds/show...&cat=12&page=1

Notice the email tag the person tried to use... It doesn't work. Are all bb tags supported?

Have you tried capitals? BBcode in VB is capitals

also you must have vb3 enhanced integration set to ON to use the bbcode

Yeah, I have all three integration options enabled.

So I went and edited that ad, to see how the user had done it. Well, he didn't insert the BB code, he just inserted his email address. The system wrapped it with [email ] and [/ email] tags, but then never displayed it as a mailto: HTML code in the post.

What's up with that?

Well, vBulletin normally converts email addresses and web urls automatically. In this case, the user (and I) did not wrap the entry with tags, but something did because the EMAIL tags showed up bythemselves! I assume it was either photopost or vbulletin. Irregardless of that, my users who DO wrap tags with BB code are reporting that it is not working anyway.

Take a look at this post:

http://www.rs25.com/classifieds/show....php?product=1

Notice after the description I have entered a line with email, URL, bold, and italic text. NONE of the text was converted. Therefore PP is not working properly.

Any suggestions?

Right but we do not load the wysiwyg box on the product description entry like you have on the comments entry. Thats the difference. Uploadphoto is purely a normal entry mode although we do call the vb convert_markups which means you would need to manually enter the tags to convert it

Manually enter the tags? Is this on a per-post situation, or do you mean I can modify a page/template so all tags are converted for all future posts in the description box?

If so, can you point me to the page and how I would go about doing that? Or point me to directions if it's already been done? That would be great.

What I mean is your expecting to not have to enter bbcode tags on our stock upload page. You have to enter the bbcode tags for the code to be parsed. This is just how it works. On our uploads page if your trying to use bbcode you need to use it.

Only the quick reply and comments page have Vbulletin true entry boxes. There you have buttons you can hit to enter emails or images or bold things etc.

Hm, I think I am confused. That ad I linked in my last post (above) for example:

I went into the ad, edited it, and entered in the BB codes myself - manually. Then I saved the ad. The codes display, but they don't bold or italicize the text like this sentence. Instead, it displays the text like [b ]bold[/b ] and [i ]italicize[/i ] inline.

Shouldn't that work?

You know what? When I reply to the post and enter B or I tags, they don't work either! Try it yourself.

You can post a reply without being a user/logged in.

Do you have enhanced integration off in your edit integration settings?

Nope, it's on. In fact, all three settings are on:

Do you want to enable the vB3 Integration which uses your vB3 headers, footers and styles? On

Do you want to enable the vB3 Enahnced features which use vB3 controls in PhotoPost? On

If using the Enhanced option above, do you want to enable the vB3 WYSIWYG control in Post Comments? On

I would suggest you download 2.42 and see if things work right.

Okay, I upgraded to 2.42 and the same thing happens:

http://www.rs25.com/classifieds/show...hp?product=158

Comments still don't parse the BB codes.

I would suggest you ensure you upload ALL the files except the config files. Maybe you have an issue with ftp not allowing overwriting

Otherwise I would need alot more information about your set and how it is configured. No one else is having this issue and you can clearly see here it works and you can try for yourself with testing and testing login

Yeah, I overwrote everything, using WS_FTP pro. I know there is an option in Pro to allow/prevent overwriting of same+older files, but I have disabled that. When I upload, I want all files to be overwritten and have for decades.

Seems to work fine on your site... just not mine...

What information can I provide? I would be happy to email you config files, etc., or post their contents here.
