Question Prevent users in Awaiting Email confirmation group from viewing pictures?

Hi,

How to go about preventing users in Awaiting Email confirmation group from viewing pictures? Currently, unregistered users cannot view images and I would like the same for those in the Awaiting Email confirmation group as well.

I know, I can set the permission/uncheck the users awaiting email confirmation box in individual categories but that just takes away everything from the index page as opposed to unregistered users can still see the thumbs and not the full image...

thanks

That would be your only option without modifying the code in some manner.

Thanks!

I figured it out... basically, block them from viewing the forum (vB) and then present this:

(insert code in the "header" template AFTER

<!-- content table -->
$spacer_open

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Optionally, you can also edit the default vB message no permissions message that appears...

I've got 506 users sitting in the waiting confirmation email... with 35-45 registerations daily, needed to put some control on it along with weekly deletions.

Can we get this added for the latest version. It is still a problem. Users just register fake emails and never confirm since they know they can view images by being in the "Users Awaiting Email Confirmation" user-group.

It really needs to be addressed. The noview for unregistered users is useless without it. It needs to be just like how an unregistered user can see the gallery index, but when they click any thumbnail, they get the no view message.

Thanks

Well the reason why this has never been addressed is there is nothing to address in as this is not a bug. Basically you are wanting to do something a little different than how the program operates. That is called a code mod.

Our program has viewing permissions. You simply do not want to use them. If you want to prevent users from registering bogus just to be view your pics then remove viewing permissions for that group. Guarantee that the behavior would stop if they cant view anymore.

You should be able to see any hack noted by users in this thread.

Newer vb would probally use $vbulletin->userinfo[usergroupid] though
