Cant put watermarked images in new browser

Whenever i copy the url of the image into a new and try to execute it, a file downloading screen comes up and asks u to either open, save etc.

How do i get around this?

I notice the url has watermark.php in it???

aem September 30th, 2005 06:54 PM

bump, someone must came across this before.

I'm using default settings in watermark.php file, all i did was put in another image for watermark.png in the images/ directory (retaining the same name)...

Chuck S September 30th, 2005 08:00 PM

Can you explain what you mean?

Place what url in a new window?

aem September 30th, 2005 08:10 PM

I'm trying to copy the images from my gallery to show elswhere e.g into a new browser.

When i did that, intead of the image being shown i get a prompt asking me to save as, open etc.

Chuck S September 30th, 2005 08:19 PM

okay and your not meantioning the url your trying

To open a photo a url is something like this

http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=173

If your using the watermark.php you can not get the true image as it protects it

aem September 30th, 2005 08:22 PM

Here's a url taken from the medium thumbnail

http://www.preludeaustralia-gallery....ile=155&size=1

Chuck S September 30th, 2005 08:31 PM

I get a white screen if I view that but anyway as stated you can not grab the real image if using watermark.php as it protects someone from doing this

aem September 30th, 2005 08:34 PM

I have put the file of my watermark.png in the images/ directory, put that path in the watermark option and it turned out.

So where did i go wrong?

I don't know how to edit the watermark.php file which i havent.

Chuck S September 30th, 2005 08:36 PM

Your not understanding what I am saying here.

the url your copying is not a url to an image hense your issue.

A url to an image is like this

http://www.domain.com/photopost/data/3/somepicture.jpg

aem September 30th, 2005 08:42 PM

I see. But how do i get the url other than right clicking the image?

aem September 30th, 2005 09:25 PM

From this site, i can right click on the image medium and large and it gives me the proper url...and it works.

How do i change my files/settings to have it work like this?
http://www.superhonda.com/photopost/...5&limit=recent

Thats because if you use the watermark option when you right click you'll get the url WITH the watermark in the url, If you don't use watermarking you won't, you'll end up getting the url to the image..

NON-Watermarked

Watermarked
yoursite.com/photopost/watermark.php?file=155

You could always turn on the option for showing the UBB code.
Admin --> Upload photo options --> Show UBBCode on Photo page? = yes

aem September 30th, 2005 11:28 PM

If i dont use the watermark, how do i copyright the images (put something in the pic to say it belongs)?

Chuck S October 1st, 2005 08:20 AM

You need to use a watermark to mark the images

If you want to use watermark.php to serve the images you could try using show ubbcode in showphoto options to show the proper image url

aem October 2nd, 2005 03:33 AM

I set the Ubbcode option to Yes (it was defaulted to Yes) and i still cannot get the proper image url (from right clicking).

Omegatron, you said to mark the images i need to use watermark, and then you said if i want to use watermark.php...etc. Do i have a choice?

Sorry if this is annoying you, but this is important and i need resolving.

Chuck S October 2nd, 2005 09:43 AM

No if you do not want to permanently mark the images you use watermark.php as its on the fly if you want permanent watermarks you can use normal watermarks and not hide the image behind watermark.php

However as noted with watermark.php the image is served with a file and your not going to get a filepath.

If your using an older version of Photopost redownload the newest which should have ubbcode work with watermark.php $imgurl

aem October 4th, 2005 02:42 AM

The version in my member area is v5.2.

I double check there is the option for ubbcode and it's selected.

Chuck S October 4th, 2005 07:34 AM

If you have ubbcode set to on you should see a ubbcode line on the showphoto page

aem October 4th, 2005 08:19 PM

I know what you mean and i think i've seen it (somewhere in the photo details section) but it's not showing for me.

Chuck S October 4th, 2005 08:57 PM

It definately shows for me. what version of the program you running
