Hiding Categories...?

Hi,

I feel this should be ovbious yet after spending many hours bewildered I felt I should seek help!

Basically I want to hide certain categories to unregistered/not-logged-in users.

I have noticed another member has managed it - look here,

and I wish to create the same effect. Guest browses to gallery and see "not registered sign up today...blah, blah" ...and thats it - no other categories to click on, etc.

I have turned off "display thumbnails" and unchecked "unregistered" group in category settings and cascaded permissions for all but the category I wish them to see on index ( i.e registration category) ...but this appears to make no difference.

my situation looks like this.

I have on the other hand managed to get the subscription category to disappear once a "registered" user has logged in - by setting category permissions.

Apprieciate any suggestions....

P.s I am using wowbb integration - with default install user groups.

Hi the only pic I can see is a thumbnail in members Gallery which on clicking says registration required to view. all other cats say 0 photos.

The two viewing permissions areas are in ...
Admin --> Registration Options --> Require users to be registered to view images?

Admin --> edit Category --> edit a category --> These checked usergroups can view images in this category.

Sorry I can't be of further help - I've got mine set up differently.

Yes I had already set the two options you mentioned which is why I am so bewlidered why I can't figure it out.

The desired configuration is really important to the way we wish to set up pp so please can anyone else help...

hmmm I see, you don't want the category headings to show either?
I'm not sure if password protecting in edit category will do this as haven't used it yet.
ie, if you password protected the top cat and ...
`Check box to apply these settings and permissions to all children:'

(did you check box this for your current settings?)

Well, I'm not familar with this component, but I'm sure PP support can provide you with the answer when their workday commences.

You have not set this as MJM pointed out

Admin --> edit Category --> edit a category --> These checked usergroups can view images in this category.

You need to uncheck groups you dont want to view the certain categories
