Question What is the role of moderators if "assigned" to a cat?

Lets say you "assign" a user to particular category, what is their role? What extra option do they have access to that a regular user doesn't?

I am testing mod operations and it doesnt look like its working correctly. Maybe, I am missing something.

I add "tester" user to mods group in vB. If you give mods group access to mod area in Photopost, then all the moderators have moderating power over all categories. But if you just assign a user as a moderator of a particular category in photopost while he is still a member in vB, it doesn't give them any option to edit/move/delete, etc photos?

Moderator procedures, if explained would be really helpful.

Thanks!

There usergroup needs to have mod access to begin with. Hense assigning a regular member in photopost without mod access would not work if what I am following you here.

Basically people with mod access can see the admin link to the mod menu but moderators are checked to see if they have permission by the is_moderator function

$ismod = is_moderator($dbcat);

Thus you need to assign a person to a category for this to return true.

Thanks! I understand now. For users to have mod access, you must give them mod access by editing usergroups in PP. Then, assign certain mods to certain categories for them to mod those categories unless you provide moderators with global access, which I have set to no.
