vb beta 3 index random thumbnails

Hope this is the right forum for this question. I asked on photopostdev but no one answered, perhaps a lack of traffic there.

Basically I want random image thumbnails displayed on my main vbulletin page, I did this before but now it doesn't seem to be working now that I installed vb beta 3 and the newest version of photopost.

One reason may be that instead of using the included inc_photopost.php file included in the mod, I just opened the one that is included in the vb3 beta 3 and make the change to index.php to include the inc_photopost.php file. Also I added the right $variable to the right template.

I can get it to show no error messages, but it doesn't show anything. I am thinking because the variable that I am putting in the template isn't mentioned in the inc_photopost.php file that comes standard with beta 3.

I even tried taking the code for the variable that is in the inc_photopost.php file that is included in the integration mod .zip file, but no matter where I put that code in the beta 3 inc_photopost.php file, it returns an error.

I am afraid to just overwrite the default inc_photopost.php file with the one that was made for these purposes back in 12-2003.

Also I understand no support for beta versions, but I am using beta 3 successfully and I just want to show some thumbnails on the front page.
