Thumbnail view as default?

Group,

I dont see anywhere where anyone has asked this yet so here goes.

When you view the gallery the default view seems to be "gallery".

How can I make it so that the default view is "thumbnail" ?

Thanks

Doug

Hi,

I dont think there is a setting for this, but the option a member chooses is stored via a cookie so on return the gallery display is remembered.

Unacceptable to me.

If anyone knows how to do this or knows what code to alter to accomplish this please let me know.

Thanks

Unacceptable to you? Please read the forum rules

http://www.photopost.com/members/for...d.php?t=112813

Now to achieve this you need to modify code in showgallery.php
Line 886 where $views is defined simply make the option box the one your want move the selected=\"selected\" to the one you want

is "unacceptable" to me.

In otherwords I wont take that for an answer and am determined to find out how to make it do what I want.

Apparently you took "unacceptable" the wrong way, as indicated by your "read the rules" link.

I am saying that I wont take "its currently not capable of doing that right now in the admin control panel" as an the official answer, and will keep looking for a solution to the problem.

Also thank you for the little tip on modifying this problem.

I do not think I took it the wrong way my friend I took it just as you said it and hense posting of please read the rules link.

I will go out of my way to tell ya how to do something as you can see time and time again here but I feel it was evident here with the tone of your post above towards Toney's response to you to please suggest you read the rules. Toney's response to you although you did not like it was correct there is no setting for this.

Should be no need to continue it over there my post above explained the exact edit. Line 886 should be this for you. Notice the select has been moved.

$views = "<option value=\"1\" selected=\"selected\">{$Globals['pp_lang']['thumbnail']}</option><option value=\"0\" >{$Globals['pp_lang']['gallery']}</option><option value=\"2\">{$Globals['pp_lang']['withtitles']}</option><option value=\"3\">{$Globals['pp_lang']['groupby']}</option>";

I guess a simple "thank you" is all I should have said. Yes I should continue this over there Chuck.

It's against forum rules as indicated in the post link you shared with me, this is something that should be discussed over there because it deals with modifying the code.

Also I need more information on what exactly to edit in that file. Im a beginner here when it comes to editing code, so detailed instructions are very helpful otherwise im scratching my head and playing guessing games on what to actually edit.

I will be over at the dev forums if you would like to add to this.

Thanks for your time and help.

Discussion Closed, nothing further to add.
