| Restrict or Stop Member Galleries Category From Displaying Some Images
I am trying to figure out a way to have SOME category uploads NOT count towards member gallery uploads, or show ALL of the newest images.
Because of the site I run, I upload alot of images (sometimes a few hundred a day), sometimes too many at once and I dont want those images overshadowing the images members upload. So I either want to restrict the Members Gallery Category from showing Images from ALL categories or just showing the most recent additions from images uploaded into a Personal Album.
Is there anyway to make this possible? If there isn't currently please someone give me a way to MAKE it possible. I am open for anything here at this point lol.
Thanks.

Hi..
well sounds a difficult task, maybe posting a request for a hack over at photopostdev.com may produce a result, other than that why not have two installs of photopost, one for the massive daily uploads and others for members?

See thats, the thing. That doesnt bother me. ONly that it lumps everything we upload in the member galleries category. Causing sometimes huge loads on the server, being able to disable this 'lumping' would be ideal.

Because it still does, heh. http://multimedia.mogusland.com
If you click on Member Galleries it still shows all of a users photos, and that option is set to NO.
What Im trying to do, is NOT display those images because they arnt "member" galleries, those are images uploaded to other galleries not those to the Members Gallery. Its like a that area is a False Gallery because it doesnt sort by what was uploaded to that specific gallery, see what Im saying?
Is there a way to make it so only galleries are shown of those users that HAVE uploaded to the Members Gallery category and not others. Either that or the option you mentioned above isnt working properly.
Let me know, thanks.

Okay well you would need to post a test login account for us to look further.
Please note are the users uploading images to only the members gallery? See if you have that option set to NO then the members gallery only shows members photos in category 500 that have been uploaded to cat 500. That is a given.

Well, exactly, only that its not heheh.
You can use the test account:
User: BlackxRam
Pass: test
If you click member galleries you will see that its sorting ALL images ever uploaded by anyone... not JUST whats uploaded to the Member Galleries category.

Not those, http://multimedia.mogusland.com/showmembers.php
That page. Whats the point of showing these if a person cant view them anyways? Its needless clutter especially considering it looks ugly and disgraceful when someone goes to the category and says "oh look how many categories have images here" then they click on it and theres nothing. Not everyone is going to realize "oh there not showing images from other categories" Most people are just going to think... man... this site is broken.
Im trying to make everything disappear, why show one, and hide the other?

That would be a matter of opinion on what you think of the members gallery. Okay so there is nothing wrong with your install you just dont like the member gallery
Go ahead and turn it off then in index options so it doesnt show

How about disabling the link 'Member Galleries'. Is that controlled by a seperate template? I just dont want people viewing sorted images like that, even if they are empty when they click on them, it just looks messy and incomplete.
if there is a way to disable JUST that one link to the Member Galleries and not the Personal Album Index link. That would work to.
I just want to hide that sorted page at any cost, or is there some type of custom code that could be used in a template to make it hidden?

You just turn if off in admin index options.
You can also set in category permissions for certain groups not to be able to view it or upload to it for even finer security

heh, but i WANT certain usergroups to have personal albums, I just dont want them to be sifting through stuff uploaded in other categories by other people. See the way things are setup is that only Admins, and Staff Members can upload to other categories, and the uploads are done via whatever media is sent to us by publishers, making the Members Galleries area redundant and sorting by user messy because there is no special order to which member uploaded what plus its just more load on the server that could be bypassed. Besides since I turned off the show images from other categories option, it just looks like a bunch of empty gallery pages.
But, Certain paying usergroups will have an option to create Personal Albums for themselves.
Which is why the link to the Personal Album Index is fine, but I would like to hide the Auto Sorted Member Galleries pages. =)
