Albums as subcatergorys - no access restrictions

If I create an album and set it to private, only I can see it. No problem there.

If on the other hand if the album is set to public any user (logged in or not) can see it, regardless of whether or not it is assigned as a subcategory of a category the user's usergroup does not have access to.

Is this a bug or not? If you make an album a subcategory of another category (using the option in album edit) then surely access should be limited to usergroups with access to that category?

Is this easy to address?

Look for a checkbox in the admin panel where, if present, you might be able to un/set subcategories WRT parent category permissions, and check out posts NINE and TEN of this thread as they might help answer your question.

As Frost suggests depends on the product your using. Photopost has a parent checkbox to inherit permissions from the parent Category. Reviewpost and Classifieds do not.

Firstly I am using Photopost.

Theoretically the inherit permissions box should solve my problem however it is not functioning. After selecting this box for the category I assigned my album to, it was still visible to all usergroups whether they had been given access to that category or not.

Also when I went back into the category's edit screen the access inheritance button was unchecked again. A bug methinks!

In any case, assuming it did work, using this function is the only way of restricting access to albums, in their capacity as subcategories, as they don't appear on the categories screen in admin.
