Chuck:
There are currently three "sticky" posts at the top of THIS (the "How Do I . . .") forum, and none of them indicate anything at all about an update.
- Smilies and WYSIWYG editor
- . . . is there an easy way to edit vb post links?
- This is not a Mods forum....
There *is* a sticky thread in the "Installation & Upgrades" forum, but it is dated 10/18/2005 and contains NO MENTION of subsequent updates.
I have not yet found a message (sticky or otherwise) that refers to a 12/9 update as you describe, or that contains any "upgrade doc".
Only after I get into the member/download area do I see that there is a 12/9/2005 "update to the update".
I now have two separate files that are identically named "photopost521.zip" -- yet which contain DIFFERENT STUFF.
Maybe it's just me, but I find this immensely confusing. And it's unlike any software development effort I've ever been a part of.
Once version "X.NN" has been publicly released, my experience is that the version is DONE. Complete. Never again to be changed.
Any subsequent releases bear a DIFFERENT designation, so that users can distinguish between what they already have, and an update that they might need.
I really like the PhotoPost product. I've been a loyal customer for many years, and I've purchased multiple licenses. My one gripe has been a certain "attitude" from the Customer Support staff (primarily from some of your predecessors) -- an attitude that conveys:
"our product isn't broken, even though it behaves in ways that confuse you, or in ways that require awkward workarounds"
"the solution to your problem is OBVIOUSLY posted here on the message boards; you should have been able to find it without asking"
Please be very cautious about allowing this sort of attitude to creep into your own customer service, which I have found quite pleasant so far.
