how to delete empty index.html under /data?

I used to use FTP to sync between server and my local computer to get a backup of all the photos. But lately because under every data or photo directory, there is an index.html file that is empty, the sync always fails.

Could anyone tell me what these empty index.html does? Can I delete them? Should I change some code to prevent any future new data folder not have this index.html anymore?

The empty index.htm prevents the folder from being viewed since the data directories are 777 thus allowing people to not gain access to your pictures or at least make it harder to get them

Chuck,

That is also my guess of the index.htm file function. But is it possible that we can generate a index.htm with at least a couple of words written on it? Because several FTP programs that I use always failed when they tried to download this empty file with zero byte in it. If there is at least some commented out text, this ftp failure can be avoided.

Please give it a thought for future release.

Thank you!

The blank index files are never really used.
Go ahead and add some text to it like "No Snooping!" or something.

You are right that they are never really used. But it was automatically "generated" whenever a member create an album. So we need to find that "generating" code to put "No Snooping" in. Otherwise, I need to change thousands of index.htm by hand.

Ah yes, understood. Unfortunately, I am clueless. I am sure someone can come up with a solution. Good luck!
