Not Show Index Thumbs on Main Page?

Is there a way to have the index thumbs not show on the main page? I'd like to use them when the members are viewing individual categories, but not when they're viewing the main home page. Is this possible, and if so how?

You could comment out the lines which have:

//display_gallery( ... );

in index.php
