Moving Database to a New Server

I'm actually going to be splitting an existing gallery in half, but I figure that I can simply move the whole thing, then delete the photos I don't want at the new site.

So, for all practical purpose, I'm going to be moving my gallery to a new domain. My question is what's the best way to move it? I've got a few minor issues / quirks on my old gallery, so I'd really prefer to do a clean install from scratch. Can I do that and still import my old data?

Hi..

I would move all data including your old photopost php files and data directories, edit the photopost configs to suit your new host, once running then perform an upgrade to PP on your new host and go from there.

Toney,

I'm sure you're probably correct on how it should be done.

One minor clarification, I've already upgraded to the latest version, so a clean install would be the same version. However, since my gallery is fairly old, I think that the fields in the database may not be in the same order as they would be on a fresh install... So your idea is probably best, I was just hoping to be able to "start fresh"

1. Move the photopost directory

2. Import the database to the new host

3. edit the config file to point to the new database settings then in phpmyadmin edit the settings table to reflect the new domain and server paths
