Best way to move photos between servers?

We are in the process of moving servers, and have about 7000 photos in our gallery with hundreds of members. What is the best/easiest way to migrate the photos from one server to the other?

Hi..

You could ask your host to fxp them across, (a rare service) if both hosts have cpanel, ask your host about this, or use a nice little app named flashfxp (check via google) connect to both servers at once and transfer all data without using any of your own bandwidth, or simple backup your data dir (and database) and save them (download) to your HDD and re-upload to your new server keeping the directory structure intact, just re-edit the config-inc.php to reflect your new server paths etc

I have root access on both servers, and was able to FTP the databases across the servers.

Do you know how I could move actual directories with multiple files?

Multiple files... well i would recommend flashfxp or an alternative to achieve site to site transfers which would of course include all data in sub dirs etc.
