Should I and How do I separate PP database?

I have a system running both phpbb and PhotoPost 5.0. Currently both PP and phpbb are in one database. And this combined database is around 100 MB. The total photo space is 2.5 GB.

Will I be better off to separate Photopost into its own database? And if so, is it relatively easy to make the change?

Please advise. Thank you for your input.

Hi..

I would say it would be better to have both in just the one database, but if you would like to split i would export the entire database, create a new database then insert your exported backup and plainly delete the tables of the database you wish to remove. Than of course goto your original database and remove the alternate tables of the other application., you should then be left with two databases, one with phpbb and the other with photopost, then just edit the relavant configs and database name, usernames passwords etc

If you use phpmyadmin of course you could simply select the tables of one application and export them, then re-insert into a new database

I do have access to the server and phpmyadmin.

What is the benefit of keeping the database into one for large board?

Really? This simple? I am really afraid there is something unexpected happen and broke the system. I have worked with some shopping cart where you have to modify the path of the every image...

phpmyadmin can be used to MOVE TABLES if you wanted to seperate the databases.

The benefit of having them in the same database is that you have no overhead to "switch" databases if you plan to do any integrations where the forums are using PP data.
