| how do i subscribe to a user's gallery?
i had a member ask, but i can't find how myself. they want to subscribe to some of their favorites, so they get an email each time those users upload a photo. i saw this mentioned as a feature, but can't see where to do it. anyone? |

Hi,
Check your admin options in photopost, goto admin > edit settings > admin options > Allow users to be notified of new posts via email? - set this to YES and you'll see in every category a 'subscribe to gallery' link in the bottom left.
cheers

very cool! i got it to work for any galleries we've created. but it doesn't work for a specific member. most of them post just to the main member's gallery. if i click on one of their photos, or even view this user's gallery, there's no subscribe option there. so is there no way to subscribe to a person's gallery unless they're posting in a specially created gallery? (make sense?)

i think i should say it this way. is there a way to subscribe to a user, instead of to a gallery? if not, i'd love to see that option later! |

Hi..
at present theres no subscription feature for a specific user only, unless a member uploads to the 'members gallery' only you should be able to recieve email notifications most of the time.

Interesting idea, if a user could go to the members list, and subscribe to any/all members' photo uploads, with an easy opt-out!

yep, this would be an awesome feature for us! many have their favorite photographers or designers and would love to be notified of their work being posted. |

Is this "subscribe per user gallery" function already available?

Could we move this thread then to the suggestion area?
My users would love to have this feature. The bigger a gallery grows, the more images are uploaded daily. It is impossible to track all images.
So users start to have their "buddies" and they only want to see what thise buddies are uploading.
It would be great to have this feature not just as an e-mail alert. It would be neet to have those new images as a thumbnail in the users profile in a subsection called "buddies"
This would be like a gallery within a gallery
Is this difficult to implement?

I upgraded in the meantime to PP 5.5.
This is now a very old thread. Subscription to user albums really make sense and should be implemented in the next release.
Stand alone of course..

If you want something to be suggested you need to make a post in the suggestions forum. The developer is not going to look at this here

I have also other things to do then to give the developpers good ideas to improve their products. I am writing since hours now in the forum today.
If the developpers are not smart enough to look regularly in the mod corner beside the suggetsion area (and all other areas) to get new ideas, than it is no wonder that mainly only vb integration stuff is done.
This is their business and the developpers should be glad that there are active people who suggest in the various sections something.
But lets face it: If I want to make something differently, I get sent to the mod corner. If I follow up there year over year because nothing happens in this respect, I get sent to the suggestion forum. This is a waste of time.
I have neither the time, nor the will, to spend my life here in the forum to give you ideas where the market for photo galleries is going. Take it or leave it. The sales numbers will be the judge.
I have in my forums also suggestion areas, but nevertheless, me and my moderators spend a lot of time in screening all other areas of my forums for good ideas, copying them in a "moderator/developper only area" (not visible for the users) and discussing them there internally to be able to ract fast and not to loose any good idea.
Just another idea for the developpers to improve their business. And all for free. Continues succes does not happen by accident. It is work.
