Want more text under Showphoto

Where/how do I enable more text in showphoto image description, showing under the medium/large pics?

Thanks,
Mark

Thanks Toney! ..will let Carole know. She pushes the template buttons!
Is there a limit to the number of characters allowed?

I'm hoping I could use this to provide a more thorough description, or to show abstract of text below pics (...Read More below) - making viewing pics more thoughtful and entertaining.
(hoping this will work with slide show description too)

Hi Toney,
Could you be more specific? I's still learning...
Thanks,

Hi Carolem..

(maybe a simpler solution) Have you tried looking within editing a category and the 'Add a new field type:' feature in PPv5, you could add an extra 'text box' - when you bulk upload, edit or just upload a picture you could any 'extra' information you like.

Hope this is suitable for you.

Hi Toney, yes we're looking forward to PPv5, but it's going to involve some extra "recalibrations"... which we need a little time to study...

4.86 - We've figured out how to make the thumbnail titles longer in showgallery.tmpl... Obviously there's a stricter limit to the length of title we can have under thumbnails...

Is the above thumbnail title length inextcicably connected to the photo description title length in showphoto? (med/large and slide show), or can this be determined independent of thumbnail title length?

With the extra text box option in PPv5, can it be located directly under the images, ie, where the photo description is currently located, and will it also show when viewing pics during a SlideShow?

The photo title & descriptions are separate ($strings) which are relative to the photo id - you can place these strings in different locations within the showphoto template as you know without too much fuss.

Yes the extra fields are shown directly under each photo, but during slideshows presently they do not, but you could add them to the showslide template using some code, example below

Code:

Hope this is ok for you.

title text box limited to 75 characters?

In pp 4.86 it appears like the title text box size under the photo is limited to 75 characters. Is this true?

How do we expand that to allow for more characters?

Where in the showphoto.tmpl to can we add room for more characters??

Hi Carolem,

The "title" may well be 75 characters long, (which would be a long title) but the description should be much more and should suit your purposes well i feel.

I'm sure you'll find PP5.1 a fantastic improvement.
