Reg Users and using vb3 on existing PP gallery Hi, Is it possible to keep using photopost internal registration system after integrating a vb3 forum script?? If yes is there an important limitation when using the forum? Problem is I have a number of registered users in existing PP that I wan't to allow access in the new forums. As far as I understand, PP.com website uses two seperate registered users one for the members area which one can use to access certain restricted forum topics, but when f.e i wanted to start a thread I needed to use the vb forum login information (seperately asked for). Is this correct? Wil it work like this? Thanks |
You can not use Photopost integrated with VB and still use the photopost user database. Your best bet would be to register the users by userid and username in order in your vb forum so there userid is the same and then integrate with VB |
Problem is i'm using a pay registration system on photopost's internal registration. I have to have one for vb if I want ppl to pay upon registration. For the integration of existing registered users I can see where you're going, but for new registrations this won't work. |
whatever way you do it the end result is the same as far as the integration of our product goes with VB. It is absolute we use the vb users table when you use vb integration |
I seem to be in a problem related to this thread. I new I had it coming. :( I recently switched my user database from phpBB to vBulletin. Fortunately I only have 6 people who have posted photos but for 4 of them the userids don't match. I changed the userid in PP photos.userid to match my vB userid. Then all I saw was no thumbnails. I ran scan photos and that only deleted the photos. My other thought is to swap userids in vB and then I need to change all their posts. Is there anything I can do besides reupload the photos? |
As stated in this thread. Userid's need to match between forum and photopost. Also realize the photo files need to be renamed with the new userid prepended |
Also realize the photo files need to be renamed with the new userid "prepended" What do you mean with this? |
well the userid of the user is prepended to every image hense thisimage.jpg would be for userid384 384thisimage.jpg |
Got it all figured out. I dumped my sql photos file. Edited the user ids. Uploaded it back into the database. Renamed each photo file with the correct userid. A bit time consuming but worked. :) |
yep as long as you do whats needed its cool |
