No access to sertain parts of Admin section

Today I learned that as an administrator I have no rights to change settings.
I found out that I have no rights to save changes to Global settings in the admin panel. I have no rights to save changes to all categories that in the database, new ones created no problem.

I cannot say since when this is so, I just figured it out, I made new categories beginning of april, no problem then. Very odd.

I can make changes to the categories through the PHPAdmin, but then I directly access the database instead of the Photopost admin area. We have intergrated vBulletin, no problem there.

What can this be? I hope Chuck you are able to give me an suggestion about this, no files have been changed on the server according to the timestamp of the photopost files.

well what do you mean?

You can access admin right. Your saying if you update something and hit save it doesnt change. HMM has your host changed anything on the server?

Chuck, nothing has changed on the server.

Yes I can access Admin, but when I try to change an option in the Global Options section and click on the Save changes button I do get the message: "You don't have access to adm-misc.php".
When I access all other options, for example Admin options, or all other options no problems and I can save any changes and all use adm-misc.php, so this is what puzzles me.

The same is for existing categories we have, when I change an option in a category in a existing one I get the message: "You don't have access to adm-cat.php". When I create a new category I can change and save when I change anything to this category.

Even when I upload the original installations files for above mentioned files there is no change, still have no access to mentioned parts of the admin.

More clearly I cannot tell you I'm affraid.

Gerald your host has changed something that is a server level message. Make sure your main photopost php files are all 644 permissions especially adm-misc.php etc but you will need to contact your host about this.

That error is a 403 error on the web server and usually means permissions are incorrect on a file but your host could have changed something else.

I really do not understand this, why is it that just the Global options, which uses adm-misc.php I get the message, the other options I can change, it's the same file, or am I missing something here?

All files on the server are 644, so this should not be the problem, at least if I understand you correctly.
I changed the permissions to 744, but no change, same message, changed it back.
I notified the host, but it's hard to explain in English so everybody do understand me.

Gerald,

The message you are getting is NOT a software message or anything to do with our code from what I am seeing. That is an APACHE server level error message so it is coming from your server. It is a 403 permissions error message. I would suspect your host has changed something in the server setup that might be causing a conflict.

Ok Chuck, I have notfied the host, so hopefully they can tell me what they might have done. Luckely I can access the database so any changes can be done there for the time being.

yeah I would suspect an apache setting was changed or apache updated.

Well, they have checked it, and saw the same message I saw, and they came to this conclusion: it appears that mod_security on your server is causing your script to not work correctly after loggin on to the Admin panel.

So thanks for helping us out by telling I could be a 403 error and should be an Apache thing, I did not know this.
