what version of the software are you using?

My suggestion would be to upgrade to the latest as your appears to be earlier which might have an issue thats been corrected.

Tell me this is the metadesc line in showphoto.php match what I have posted below it should as we strip tags.

You will most definately see a $metadesc line in the showphoto.php file.

The line or lines should look exactly as I set above. Its the second line that needs to be added the first most likely exists on yours.
