without more information that would be hard to diagnose

I mean has the code been altered in any way?

Reason i ask is if the username on the submitted form is less than 2 characters or blank the script dies and asks the user to correct the username thus they can not have an empty username and nothing would be inserted into the database.

At least thats what I get using the script and testing it.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Thats for it being blank and here is 2 characters

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Then of course before any queries are done in the script is this which tells the script to die or stop and give a message

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.

chuck, i haven't changed the register script at all.. i can sen you the register.php file it you'd like to confirm.. i see the coding you're talking about and it's in the file.. the entries on the 'user' table don't give me any leads on where to look - as they don't have any data in them except for an incremented userid number..

well I will do some more testing and see if I can find anything out. As stated from my initial tests thus far I can not replicate this and the diewell kills the script if the criteria does not match before any queries are made.
