Question Comments are moderated?

I want my moderators to check uploaded images before they are posted in the galleries. So I set (for the 'registered users' usergroup) Require Moderation? to yes.

But now all comments posted are also being put in a moderating queue?

Isn't it possible to set the moderation options for uploading and commenting separately? That was possible for vbgallery?

The moderation setting is global meaning both photos and comments would be moderated.

But why? That makes no sense at all? The chance that people are cluttering up a gallery (posting double, posting in the wrong category, forgetting to add the right tags, etc) is a completely different story than posting a comment on a picture that's already there?

How did you come to this decision to combine this into one setting, instead of two separate?

I really don't understand why photopost pro has in various cases less options to set it to your needs than the cheaper vbgallery?

Is there any way that we can fix it for my gallery? The amount of people commenting on pictures is larger than the number of people uploading them.

The answer would be because thats how the developer coded it and thats how its always been. Moderation has always been a global permission and has always meant moderate all user content. If your trying to do something different then the code has settings for then you would need to alter your files to suit your needs. Thats what is known as hacking or mods.

A really bad coding decision... the coder should have looked a bit more to what Brian once did with vbgallery...

With photopost I can't even set different uploadsetttings (max size, etc) per usergroup. Make thumbs visible for guests, but no access to the full images should also be a standard option..... I can make a list of real basic settings that a default (non-modded/hacked) photopost is missing.

I don't want to sound negative to you Chuck, but I am dissapointed over what photopost offers me over vbgallery. I really miss that I stepped back in time... a lot

You can set max filesize and diskspace per usergroup

You can set that guests can view thumbs but not full size images right in registration options in admin.

Your free to make suggestions in the suggestions forum for Pro sure. For every one thing you say Photopost doesnt have over vbGallery there are probally ten things it does have that vbGallery doesnt have.

PhotoPost PHP Photo Sharing Photo Gallery: Pro vs. vBGallery

Thats just a very basic comparison.

Moderation is set in image-inc.php for uploading photos and in comments.php with this line

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
