Copy of the file failed. Operation cancelled

I know this has been posted before, however, the "cure" was to make sure that the folder was marked 777.

Code:

We did not have this issue before we upgraded.

I've uploaded screen shots from Filezilla showing the permissions. They are set to 777, so I don't know what to do. Ideas?

Version 7 is merely an SEO and vb4 compatibility release. Two important things but nothing that would affect what your referring to.

Also it would help us assist you if you give some background on what you actually where doing a link to the actual photo in question something that might help us. Those attachments would be kind of useless for your report as they only show the top levels are 777. How about all the directories beneath your numeric data directories the thumbs, mini and medium directories?

You are completely right this is always a permissions or path issue. Your a long time customer who knows what they are talking about the kind I like because its easy to help you. its probally a simple permissions issue.

Hi Chuck.

We are trying to move images from this category into the general Members Category.

We go into admin > bulk move >

Change Category you wish to move? to the first linked.
Change Category you wish to move to? to the second links and hit submit.

Instantly the error comes up

/home/webattit/public_html/gallery/data/717/thumbs/almost-37.jpg -> /home/webattit/public_html/gallery/data/500/thumbs/almost-37.jpg
Copy of the file failed. Operation cancelled.
This brings up a question.

I backup our server to my home computer. It's an accumulitive backup, meaning that for the last 4 years it has taken what is on the server and just dumps it into my home computer folder. This also means that nothing is ever deleted out of my home directly. If it's not on my home directory backup, it has never been on the server.

Looking in the 500 folder, there is no thumbs/mini or medium folders. I looked at my home backup and it too does not have these folders, so they were never there to begin with. Is that right?

I did find the image in question
Almost 37 - The Pixel Gallery

When I edit it, I can see the thumb, but can't rebuild the thumb.

I can try to manually delete it to see if that pushes us through the overall reported error, but the question of why those directories don't exist is still up there. Any insight?

There is your issue those directories exist in a properly setup photopost.

All data directories should have mini thumbs and medium directories under them set to 777 permissions as well.

You can create any missing directories sure.

Actually that wasn't the issue. The issue is that the original image file no longer existed in the directory that it was uploaded to. Once I delete them, the move works fine, without those directories under 500. Why is that?

I cant say unless those directories really existed and you could not see them. I know sometimes if a directory has too many files you will never see the subdirectories via ftp.
