Question No SEO-URL Umlaut/Int. Character Translation!?

Hello,

I found, that there the german word "Städte" (= cities) is translated in the url part "st-dte".

As you can see, the umlaut "ä" is completely lost. It should be "staedte" instead, because "ae" is normally the url-forum of "ä". As for example "ue" is the SEO-URL translation of "ü", as used in vBseo too (vBseo has also a section for user-defined character translation).

But what's about PhotoPost? Is there any feature for this?

Regards,
Frank

If I had all the umlate translations i could possibly write up a str_replace.

Assume you are creating a PhotoPost category name like "Städte" (german for "cities") using the special character "ä". Then you get for example a seo relevant url like -->

http://www.my-website.com/g511-st-dte.html

This is bad. Because the url part "st-dte" is not likely to boost your page relevance for the german keyword "Städte". I like to tell PhotoPlog to make the url part "staedte" ("ä" to "ae") from "Städte" instead.

Can it be configured? It work in vBseo.

Sound goods! But it would be most flexible to put these PhotoPost category to SEO-url character translations in a file. So everyone can configure his or her own international seo character translations.

The relevant german character translations for producing correct seo urls are:

"Ä" --> "Ae"
"ä" --> "ae"
"Ü" --> "Ue"
"ü" --> "ue"
"Ö" --> "Oe"
"ö" --> "oe"
"ß" --> "ss"

Small thing, but very import for the correct working of the PhotoPost seo-option. Thank you in advance!

Regards,
Frank
