Images Stopped Resizing

I am having a new problem that sprung up recently where uploaded photos are not resizing per the settings in "Upload Photo Options". The photos and thumbnails appear as the same size as the raw image.

My gallery has been up and running for some time without incident. No settings were recently changed. The only thing that I can think of that recently changed was that my web host upgraded my version of PHP. I am not sure if this somehow might have messed with Image Magick (which is currently set to handle the images).

If this might be the problem, how do I confirm it? Any other ideas?

If your host has disabled exec and your using Imagemagick you might need to go to admin => global options and set your processor to GD2 and save your options. You can then try and upload.

Its my server so I doubt the host disabled anything on purpose. I am not sure what "exec" means. Executables? I have root and WHM access. What should I check?

When I tried GD2 it would say forwarding to image process list and then it would just display a blank page.

I forgot to mention that my version of photo post is pretty old (v5.5). Not sure if it might be compatible with my new 5.x version of PHP???

I would never say hosts dont do that because they do. The error as you describe it suggests that there is an issue using Imagemagick so if you want to continue using it you would need to fix the server.

As far as a blank page using GD2 thats easy. GD2 is part of PHP and as such is prone to PHP restrictions. The blank page is because PHP is shut down on the server because GD2 stole all of PHP's memory. Your fix for that is altering the servers php.ini file and increasing the memory_limit or adding an ini_set line in the script like so

Upload and then things go blank

The PHP.ini memory_limit is 32MB. I added the ini_set like you recommended.

Quote:
error_reporting (E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE);

ini_set("memory_limit", "48M");
ini_set("max_execution_time", 0);

if ( VB3_INTEGRATION == "off" )
Then when I switched to GD2 I experienced the same problem with images not being resized (like with Image Magick). On the processing page the image is full size.

So it would seem to me that the problem is not with the image processor itself?

I double checked the settings in "Upload Photo Options" and everything looks correct to me. Screen shot attached below.....

p.s. The one thing I did not do in the thread you linked was delete all the directories under the "uploads" directory. I was scared I would screw something up worse. If I should do that, just let me know...

If no thumbnail is created at 150 pixels and its 1500 then your image processors definately are broken and you need to contact your host.

I was able to create an album and upload a photo in vbulletin's standard album/photo system. A thumbnail was created automatically...

This would seem to indicate that GD2 is working properly right?

I finally got the webhost to look into it... they enabled exec as you originally suggested and it fixed the problem.
