Fatal Error on line

Hi I'm getting this error on my pp when trying to upload to the gallery.
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12288 bytes) in /home/******/*****/*****/newphotopost/image-inc.php on line 116
Not sure how to fix it.
I have read to purge files in uploads but not 100% sure on whick files to purge there as there are quite a few folder there with only numbers on them and thought that it would delete the files from the gallery that people can see.
Any and all help appreciated.

if you delete any numeric directories under the uploads directory you will not delete photos in the gallery people see. The photos that are processed and viable in the gallery exist in the data folder

Upload and then things go blank

This thread should assist in giving PHP more memory to let the photo process.

Oh Chuck thank you so very much cleaning the uploads directory worked a treat will have to remember to check this much more often then I have been.
