| Need the flash uploader fixed
I extended my support license for photopost solely because of the flash uploader addition. Now it's broken because a growing number of our users have flash 10 in their browsers.
I need this fixed. Otherwise there's no incentive to keep handing my money over to photopost.

The flash supporter is not supported by our company as noted in the release announcement of the 6.2 software. Support for external software like that is provided by the authors of that software. once they fix there application we will include a fixed version and this is exactly why we have a switch to turn the flash uploader on or off in our admin upload options.

Supported or not, the flash uploader *should* be part of your software. As it stands, photopost is one of those programs that I think many of us would run from if there were a decent alternative out there. My suggestion is that you make photopost the decent alternative by including and *supporting* the features that make it worth using vis a vis other galleries on the web today.

We can not support something we do not write. Once SMFUPLOAD people support flash 10 we will include an updated version of their software into ours.
Sorry you are upset about this but in our announcement of this version Michael made it very clear this was an add on that was not supported by us.
Flash does not operate on all servers in all situations. We are both php developers here and time to time we do include open source software into the program to enrich it but support for that functionality is provided by the initial developer.
We actually included the flash uploader into our program which violates one of our rules. We release functionality that works with all environments/platforms etc. We knew flash does not. See sites like Flickr etc have flash uploaders because they only have one server to setup etc. We have to be compatible with all setups. However enough customers spoke and we included the flash component but made it a configurable item since we know it will not work on all setups.

We support the integration of it into PP, but not the product itself. Honestly, it has as much to do with our lack of knowledge about the product and its code as anything else. They have a support site, we don't see a reason to duplicate those efforts when we have no control over the code.

how can we get it to show the thumbs as each upload completes, like it shows in the example on the SWupload demos? SWFUpload Demos - Application Demo

For the application to work it is simply an uploader and our application process's images so I doubt that would be added into the program anytime soon nor would that feature be consistent or compatible to how the current integration between the products works.

bummer..
I will inquire SMF to figure out how to perhaps do a drop and load kinda process.. as some users I have are still confused on the upload process..
I would assume it is not as simple as simply applying a different java style to the process?
I know I used PoWuploader in the past, an open source uploader with this kind of function.. and works great for guests to upload, since the flash uploader only works for registered users at this point in time, as you may recall the discussion with this uploader..
Either way, the upload process should be simplified a bit such as allow users to create albums, or upload to their current albums.. everything in one place, rather than having to go through 'my albums' to create these albums..

yes you can post a suggestion in the suggestions forum for any features you wish for inclusion in some new version.
it would not be some simply process I would think because we would need to rewrite the entire way we process files. We process files when you hit submit and are taken to the bulkupload file for instance to process files and that is a different script so removing that whole functionality is a whole rewrite.

Which version of the uploader was used? I would love for the progress to show 2 upload boxes, side by side instead of straight down. Also, the SWF Object Demo works really nice since it deletes the progress window as it is completed, which would help with the file list, since a lot of users do not understand to scroll down to hit the 'Process Uploads' button.
BTW - Why doesn't the upload script have 'X' on each pending upload to cancel it like the demo does? There is a blind link in that same corner as the demo, but it does nothing.. SWFUpload Demos - SWFObject Demo

You are seeing the beta on that demo page; we have not yet worked with the beta version. I'm not aware of a cancel feature in the current version (maybe its there and not working properly, not sure).
The version I worked with I saw neither the option to remove a successful upload nor a cancel button.

The version I worked with I saw neither the option to remove a successful upload nor a cancel button. | I think I mentioned it before. If you upload a bunch of files and scroll over the top right corner of the pending download, there is a link to uploadphoto/# or something like that.. missing image for the 'x also. The demo had that before, no change in design on that issue.. I uploaded the images from the demo version to the images folder for PP, but it doesn't show, so I am sure it is in the handler script somewhere?
