Losing css link then images....

Hi,

I have installed PP 6.11 for a new site I am working on. So fortunately not a live site just yet....

I uploaded a few images, set all the formatting how I wanted it and was going to start the process of loading my image libraries this weekend.

Three days a go, I went to the site and it had reverted back to the default css file from the metal.css theme I was using. I set that back and wondered what happened.

Today I went to the site and ALL the images were gone from the site. I only had 'no thumbnail' images on index/gallery pages and no large images. Images were still in the data directory where they belonged, the pages were simply not linking to them anymore.

I looked through all the settings and everything looks to be exactly where it is meant to be. It was working a few hours a go????

Any thoughts? I don't want to load a few thousand images if this is not stable. Right now, I ended up deleting all the non-linked images so they are gone and the db now has a few new image I am loading to see if it is going to stay or not.

I also just noticed some other setting have reverted here and there. For example - the 'Allow additional categories during upload' has reset to 'No' when I know I had set it to 'Yes'.

(P.S. I run another site that has been using PP for several years so I pretty good at how this all works and what settings I need to have to get things to work).

have your sites server paths changed? Something would have had to change for this to break

Server paths have not changed. My other PP set up is on the same server within the same physical directory (although different site) and it is fine so virtual paths are fine.

After I cleaned the broken images I uploaded some new ones and they loaded fine.

As I said, a few things have happened over a series of days - theme reset, now images and some options changing. I am looking for anything else that may have also gone back to previous settings or changed.

Settings can not change unless you change them or the databases are rolled back to earlier settings by your host

Hard to roll this back - this is a brand new install. Less than a week in place and any roll back would have effected the other PP site as well - which it hasn't.

I may just pull the whole install and start again. I have this option if I need to use it. My confidence with how this has transpired over a few days is a little low at the moment as you can imagine.

OK - News/Announcement box just turned itself off over night.

What is going on here? Nothing in the logs I can see.

Are you giving anyone else admin access? Have you checked the usergroup permissions or posted your admin account anywhere anyone will see it?

Like I said things can not just turn themselves off. Someone would actually have to change that setting
