Post Time bug

Say host server is located in UK on GMT, serving country with +12hr time zone as set within vBulletin and Photopost.

Unregistered users show correct times in forum and in photopost - no problem

Now login with user account based in +12 timezone. The vB forum displays correct time zone, but photopost displays time +12 hours, so a photo upload at 6pm now displays as as being uploaded at 6am the next day.

Have you set your GMT server offset in Photopost global options? You must negate any timezones when using vb back to GMT then the user timezone set in there profile takes precedence.

So your server is in New Zealand or such?

You say your putting a 12 in the GMT of Photopost to match the VB time that means to me your server is somewhere in the south pacific with a -12 timezone.

I need to know your exact location of the server to be able to instruct you how to set things. vbulletin does not have a gmt switch that i know of they automatically convert your time to GMT nomatter where the server is located at.

Say for example my server is here in Maryland USA which +5 GMT. I dont do anything in vb as thats already set in my vb. Only thing you set in vb is a default timezone for guests and when people to register. vb the way they do the time they get your timezone and convert it back to GMT.

Therefore for Photopost and vb times to be in sync we have that GMT switch in global options to make our program work like vb. I would put in mine -5 to get time back to GMT then of course the users vb time offset we apply when they are logged in.

The server is in the UK and set to GMT +1 for correct local time.

In vB in date and time options, I set the default time offset for guests etc to +12 Auckland, wellington, fiji as its a NZ based forum.

As a member, you set your own timeszone. All times for guests and members in vb are correct.

In photopost the offset is 12 to represent the +12 hours ahead. This was based on the input required for vB.

For guest users this is fine and works perfectly, with both vb and photpost displaying the correct time. However if a member logs in, the time in photopost is 12 hours ahead.

If I change the offset in photopost then the time for guests is displayed incorrectly.

example photopost offset = 0, guest photopost time is 12 hours behind.

This is where you would go wrong here we dont have a time offsets for guests. it will just use the time of the server.

i think your over analyzing your time thing personally if I understand your time calculations ABOVE.

Your vb time and Photopost time should all be set to use 12 for aukland as the base timezone. Then members set their own timezone different from aukland and things should all be fine.

I think your issue is coming from the fact your trying to do 2 different time calculations. One with +1 from GMT and one from +12

You can only set Photopost to whatever time you wish and then users offsets get applied from there.

Therefore if your users are setting their time offsets from +1 GMT instead of Aukland +12 I can see where you would have an issue.
