Tif files and warning message issue

I am having a tough time getting TIF files to load up correctly. They just show up as a horizontal black line with some text. The image does not appear.

I took TIF off as available file types but users can still upload. The system does not BLOCK users from uploading TIF. How can I get the system to display a message that says bad file or something like that

If you take off tif as an allowable image type they will most certainly not be able to upload a tif

Admin => Upload Options

I would suspect your server is not setup correctly to allow tifs.

Did a little more testing. I have my max file size set to 1.5 Meg (1500KB). I do not allow tifs.

If a user comes along and tries to upload a 2 meg tif, it will appear to upload and give a message that it did indeed process successfully. I have tested this and this is what it does. Shouldn't the program first check file type before trying to load?

Also, regarding TIF files, is this normally a setting a I can do on my host or does my host provider need to change something?

If someone uploads a file over your php max upload size which is 2mb the server drops it so there is nothing to process so no file is ever uploaded.
