Exclamation phpBB3 now official

I'm not sure if this is the right forum, so move it if need be.

FYI, phpBB3 has officially been released. I have a few forums I can't upgrade until PhotoPost/ReviewPost/Classifieds is ready to go. Please advise on the status of phpBB3 integration. I'm hoping you guys can have it ready in the next 2-3 months.

At http://www.fordf150.net I have PhotoPost Pro, Classifieds, and ReviewPost...

We will announce support when it becomes available. I usually do those in my free time aside from what I do here. I have one that I have had for months but never got it to be 100% so thus have never released that forum as being supported. If I get the module to work to my satisfaction we will announce support for that forum.

Cuck, your work is greatly appreciated and please excuse my ignorance. I don't know if you work for Photopost or if you are a "free contributor". I think the point that Swanny wanted to make is that phpbb is a supported bulletin board software which has recently released a new version. If you look at the requirements for Photopost Classifieds, it states phpbb 2.. or higher. Therefore it should not require your spare time to develop the integration but Photopost should make sure that they get their team to develop/support the integration feature that was sold as part of the software.
I understand that there were some issues with phpbb being changed significantly in the RC versions but with the golden release being out now, I would expect at least a timeline from Photopost in regards to when the integration will be updated to support the latest phpbb release.
Cheers,
Tom

My point was FYI it's gold now, so please start developing for support of it ;-) Otherwise if no one told you it might not make it on your "to-do" list for a while.... phpBB3 has a ton of changes & improvements so the more lead time you have the better it is for paying customers like us. All I run is phpBB with my PhotoPost products so essentially I am at a standstill on the phpBB upgrades until PhotoPost releases new versions to support it. FYI I have 7 PhotoPost product licenses....

We will support it if we are able to properly write a fully functional integration module period. Thats what it all comes down to. Our integration list states phpBB2. It does not mean we support all future versions of a software. If and when we support phpBB3 we will announce this and this has been the same thing I have said for the past few months.

So, if they had called it phpBB2 3.0 versus phpbb3, you would consider it being covered under the supported versions as stated on the "sales" page and a working integration of your software would be around the corner ?

Wow - that is a bold statement then....

I think that the "dont know when, dont know if" statements work out that great for your paying customers...

Hello different code branches which change integration things are different versions. We support phpbb2 but not phpbb3. As I clearly stated if I can get a 100% working module we will support that forum version. We support many different platforums and have most parts been able to expand our integrations to new forums like vb 3 vb 3.6 when they came out after vb2. Same thing with Invisionboard released 2.0 and branched off from their original version. It just takes time.

As a prospective buyer of Photopost Pro, I must agree that that statement in the sales information is slightly deceptive. I built my database with phpbb3 "Gold" thinking that it would be supported. The sales statement should read "phpbb2 only." "..or higher" implies version 3--at least to the typical novice user like myself.

I doubt it Chuck's fault and I'm sure he's swamped with work. However, it is very disappointing.
