| 6.01 Contest mode - images not showing
5.61 to 6.01 upgrade
In contest mode galleries which have already ended, not all images are showing.
Only images that had 1 vote or more are showing.
All images are not showing unless you click enable voting, then end voting again, then images that had 0 votes will show up again.
I have 100's of galleries and wonder how to fix this outside of doing this manually for all of them?
update: after testing it seems that the enable/disable voting does not fix the issue permanently. when voting is enabled, all images are shown including ones with 0 votes. the problem is with voting ended, it hides the submissions that had 0 votes.

I would have to get confirmation here from the developer on the exact nature of how this is suppose to operate. Because for many versions now customers have complained that when they close voting they want images that are voted on to be the ones that show instead of having to scan through all the images to find out what was voted on. One of the features of PP 6.x was to change some of the workings on the vote system.
My suggestion is if your done with the contest and have your results etc you can go into Admin => Edit Categories and set the rating system to ratings not contest and things will show fine. Your only showing images that where voted on because you have ended the contest.

Well, I was one of the early adopters of the contest mode and if I have 20 high quality entries to an art contest but only 8 received votes, I want the gallery to still show the other 12. That is the way it used to operate and it would sort the highest votes to lowest votes automatically once end voting was selected. That worked great.
It should at least be an option especially since you are changing the functionality where people had existing systems in place.

Well like I said I will wait for the developer to respond here. Since I do not develop this application I can not respond as to its default working. I know how it use to work and there was alot of flak given on how it worked for many versions. I do know the suggestions we have recieved from many customers and given those suggestions and how I see the code is now I will let the developer respond on his thoughts here on how he designed it to operate given the suggestions we have recieved since voting became a part of the application.

I'm not blaming you and I'll be glad to wait for a response from the developer. At current I have 100+ galleries that are now useless. I can appreciate how different members want given features or functionality but you can't break functionality that existed previously. I'm not a programmer but work close enough with code to believe that this could probably be an option/toggle so it can work both ways?

The option or toggle I refer to setting a category to ratings will show all images.
Admin => Edit Categories you then edit a category and set it to Ratings for the rating type.

I understand that but I don't want it set to ratings, I want it set to Contest mode to start and to stay that way. (my contests are already high maitanance, I want photopost to make it easier, not harder)

btw: Setting the category back to ratings, still does not work. It only shows images that had a vote. I'm also worried about the new votes system... previously in contest mode, a vote would give essentially give it a 1.00 rating. If it no longer does that ,, then "most popular" sort order will no longer work as that uses ratings. Perhaps a sort order of "most votes" needs to be added?
how often does the developer stop in? (mon-fri?)

Exactly as I posted above this is the default functionality. I posted a longer explanation in the mod thread you started and a possible thing for you to try. But from what I see this is exactly the behavior the developer has elected to happen for a highest rated sort. http://www.photopost.com/forum/showp...72&postcount=2 |
