| Index page not centered
I had a member post this and I checked what he was looking at and found the same. This is after the upgrade to 6.0 Quote: |
Here is what the gallery looks like on my 17 inch CRT monitor in the picture below. You can see that the white arrow is pointing to an Off-set of the header and the body of the page. The red arrow points to the bottom scroll bar has to be used to slide the page over to see all of it. I have my resolution set at 1024x768 as normal for most monitor settings on this size monitor. Hope this helps. It don't effect my 20 inch diagonal LCD screen.
| Attached is his image showing how index page is not centering and having to scroll with both Firefox and Internet IE.
Could it be the sidebar is not resizing to correct value now. I have mine set for 10% width.

actually more than likely your setting your page to a fixed with and your Photopost can not print all that stuff in such a fixed space.

It worked ok before the upgrade. I ahve not changed any settings.
Where would the page width be found.
I also can put any number value in my side bar width setting and it does not have any effect when changing. I ahve went from 5% to 50% and still no change in setting.
I think its something to do with this setting not working. I could be wrong. |

well I am basing my comments off some picture your posting. feel free to post a site link here for use to see what we see. From your picture this is what I see. Your vb is a fixed width and Photopost can not fit in that spacing period.
Your trying to show minimum 5 100 pixel thumbnails and a sidebar on a page that is probally 700 some pixels wide or so. Thats what it looks like to me.
Photopost width is found in Layout Options in admin and needs to be set to 100%. You can adjust vbulletin's width as you see fit but there is no way I can see that much info on a page width like yours. You can also change how many rows of thumbnails etc to show on the featured photo block. 4 might be wiser.

Why is the settings for the sidebar not changing it when I use different settings.
I have a 17 inch monitor with resolution at 1024 X 768 and see the page as the attached pic.
On my flat monitor which is 19 inch I see the page ok but still can not make the side bar smaller or larger My 19 inch monitor resolution is set at 1152 X 864.
My width is set at 100%.
Will check featured photo block and set to 4 to see what happens. |

I have always had my side bar setting set at 10% and before the upgrade it was not as wide as it is now. Why is this not working when I use different values from 10-50. I should be able to see a difference if its working.

Everything looks fine with the regular vb style and the hang out style. Your sidebar is not going to get any smaller than the largest thing that prints there so calendar for instance is going to be at least what 150-175 pixels wide minimum? So viewing the page at a smaller resolution could make things break out of tables.

You are right about break out of tables.
Why is the sidebar width not doing anything when I change those numbers like from 10% to 50% Before I was able to see a change but now it seems its broken and has no effect. My side bar wider now since the upgrade to version 6.0 for some reason.
I can give you admin pass if that might help see my settings.
I turned off the calendar pal and now it looks as it did before my upgrade on smaller resolutions.
Soemthing is not letting the calendar resize if using 10% for my sidebar settings.
Guess I will have to leave calendar turned off so people with smaller resolutions can see without it broken out of tables.
I am sure something changed with either the settings for sidebar width or calendar not resizing if using sidebar settings.
Changing from 5 thumbs per row to 4 had no effect on the problem.

Because your already broke out of a table. What I am saying is you can set the sidebar to 10% or 50% doesnt matter. Your constrained into a 700 pixel window. Your cat display is gonna take what room it takes. You set your sidebar to 70 pixels well your calendar needs 175 pixels its going to take that.
You can not constrain that much information in a small table width. It is a known limitation of small tables. Viewing a site at 1024x768 is always the suggested thing and been that way for a decade now.

I am viewing the site on a 17 inch 1024 X 768 and see the tables as the attached pic.
I look at it on a 19 inch moniter and all looks ok.
I turned off the calendar in sidebar and all is ok for smaller resolutions.
I know something changed but have no idea what.
Thanks Chuck for helping and yes I do understand your reasoning for it showing as it does.
It looks now without the calendar as it did before the upgrade. The calendar resized in older version to fit the sidebar as you can go back and now look how It use to look with calendar.
Chuck after farther thinking I may not had the calendar turned on and during the upgrade the setting for it might have went to on.
That is only think I can think off because when turn it off the sidebar looks as before the upgrade now on smaller 17 inch monitor.

I cant view your site on a 17 inch monitor sorry.
Yes as I stated when dealing with widths of tables etc we must always be mindful in restricted space. The calendar is at least 150-175 pixels wide.

I must have had it off before the upgrade and some how it got set to on during the upgrade.
With it off all looks as before the upgrade now. Larger monitors and higher resolutions a person didnt notice.
Is it possible to have option to place calendar at bottom instead of in side bar. |

Well it shows in the bottom if you use the undercats pal not the sidebar. You can modify your templates to remove the call from the sidebar templates and place it in your undercats-sidebar template. That might give you the look you want.
