Voting/rating issue?

Running PP 5.62 and Vb3.6.7 integrated but on different databases.

Our issue is this... if we run a competition gallery each photo uploaded into the competition gallery also appears in each members personal gallery too, in that section PhotoPost is counting the number of votes from the comp gallery and displaying them as ratings next to the shots in the users personal galleries.

This is a big issue for our users as if their entry receives just one vote, it shows as the lowest rating (on the 1 to 10 scale) in their personal gallery.

Is there a setting we need to change somewhere or is this an error/bug/other issue and how can we change this behaviour so that correct ratings appear in personal galleries and votes only in comps?

If you do not wish to show photos in the members gallery which are not uploaded there then set this switch in admin showgallery options to NO

Do you want Members Gallery to show all of a users photos?

My suggestion is when PP 6.0 is stable try that out there are some changes to voting and how it is handled

The problem with your suggestions is it would have a big effect on the way we run our galleries.

We have several sections of different photos, covering subjects such as mono, animals/wildlife, landscape etc. We also have the competition galleries that are run on a fortnightly basis and we allow our members to upload their shots into all these open sections independently.

To keep things easy for them, every shot they upload into any of the above galleries will also show in their own user gallery as well. This gives them (and others) one place to see and access all their shots or that of one other member. We also highlight one members gallery as a showcase every week. Turning off the auto uploads to their own galleries would almost cripple our site.

Changing to beta software is not an option for us, although we may take a look at it when it has matured. Is your reply above indicating that this voting/rating behaviour has been changed in PP6 to solve the reported issue?

Is there code I can manually change somewhere in our existing installation to not show votes as ratings in members galleries? Maybe just deactivate that section of output?

Sorry but I do not post code hacks here. Overall ratings or votes are considered comments and on members gallery you just have a quick count of how many comments the user has made in the system

I do not see an issue here or at least with the knowledge of how it is suppose to operate. Showing they have made 4 comments does not necessitate a bug I would think.
