Upload Photo Problems

A lot of users are reporting problems uploading photos on our site - I haven't been able to reproduce it myself so am relying on what i've been told, but by the sounds of things, this is what's been happening...

Users have been trying to upload a photo and have been redirected back to the index page after pressing submit on the 'first' upload page (where you actually browse for the files). They are not being shown the 'details' page (image list? whatever it's called) and the image doesn't show up, but no errors are ever shown. It's intermittent, and users have been able to upload successfully but it takes several trys. As I said, I haven't been able to reproduce it so it can't be effecting everyone.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ollie

Are the files they try to upload larger than the PHP max file upload size of 2mb on your server?

If so this is your issue because you can not upload a file over your php's max upload size

Hi,
Unfortunately not, this is our first line of questioning to those who have problems. Many have been uploading photos for years to our gallery, so know the procedure and size limits.

cheers,
Andy

If they are uploading an image and it tries to process and they come directly back to the gallery and nothing is processed then the server is dropping the file which is why I responded like I did.

Now what happens when they upload a smaller file?

I believe it happens with any size of file...

Don't have any problem with large attachments in vbulletin or mediawiki either afaik...

The key point here is to get the exact error from the user. This would help us respond to you here on how to rectify your problem.
