Does this have anything to do with searching for "2002-05" in the following album and the results listing images elsewhere but NOT the one in the album?

Have you applied the fix I noted and tested?
The bug fix is exactly what I have posted in that link.

I'm confused as you said the fix doesn't address this ... Quote:

albums cats it doesnt matter they are all cats on search and the bug is indeed fixed by the fix provided in that thread. You can select one category to be searched and only results from that cat are shown. I can provide explicit examples here
I search for the word blue on all cats and there are 14 results http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/search.php?searchid=42
I do the same search but limit it to the corals category and there are 4 results http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/search.php?searchid=43 |

I would say the fix is not applied on this site if it does not work. But that is not what this thread is about. It is about you fixing your gallery on your site and the fix was supplied.

The Administrator on our site who does this says the "fix" has been applied. It did not fix the problem.

Searching for one cat I show the fix does indeed work. It is a simple addition to search.php on the typecast line. The reason it did not work before is cats was never tracked now it is with that addition. I applied the fix to my site and it does work as my explicit examples show. You can try my site yourself and I would suggest possibly you yourself verify he has applied this fix correctly Code: Content visible to verified customers only.

Chuck,
I see the same problem as Miniac.
With your system search works fine on one area or all areas as you say. However if I do the fix you suggest it does not work on mine still, the same as Miniac has found.
Although I already run the current PP version I downloaded the latest file here incase, and used the search.php in that. It does not have the fix you detail in it.. which is surprising if this fixes the broken search system. I edited it in, uploaded it, and tried it many times.. it always finds the search term in every category not just the one selected.
Your seach.php may solve this, and I wonder if you can share the actual file or something...as I assume it is somehow different to the current one.
Another problem though I'm afraid, and I see it on your system as well.. is how do you select more than one area to search? I can highlight one area.. but the normal highlighting others using Ctrl does not work. I wonder infact if that is where the whole problem lies.
I hope the feedback/info is helpful.
Steve

Chuck,
MANY thanks.. that makes the search work on the single cat selected just fine for me.
However, I still can't select multiple cats using Ctrl and a mouse click. I'm using IE7.
I just checked that on your site again as well as my own, and it still applies on Reeftalk too.. I can only select one cat and then can't add more using Ctrl and a click... I would guess this is something IE7 now does differently to older versions...that is a total guess though.

Must be your IE because I select this fine using Mozilla I use or my IE 7 that is shipped with my Vista Operating System. Seems tied to with your browser and not the code as I can not replicate with the IE 7 browser. I am using IE 7 7.0.6000.16368 http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/search.php?searchid=46
This is a multiple cat search on the same keyword blue using like 4 cats( corals through fish). I get 11 results. Search all gets 14 and searching corals get 4 which was my initial example above.
By the way you use SHIFT not CTRL

Chuck,
Shift Click works fine and does what it should as you say.
With Shift click if you choose the first and last items in the list it highlights both of those and every item in between.. which is fine and how Shift click is meant to work.
However, Ctrl and a click should let you select single cats from the list..so you can choose 4 that are not next to each other or whatever... and that is what doesn't work for me, either on my site or yours.
My IE7 is being used with XP.. and according to Microsoft it is their latest one - as they are offering no updates for it...so it should be the one the majority of users of most sites will be using I guess.
That search you link to shows the correct 11 results and your fix for that initial problem seemed fine to me.
If you can't use Ctrl and click to select cats then how would you select 4 cats here and there in the list to search? Shift click is no good for that is it.
I noticed Vbulletin just had to release fixes because of changes in how IE7 is working with their software...which makes me suspect it may be the same sort of thing at work.

I can use ctrl for non sequential cats just fine in both Mozilla and IE 7. shift works for sequential cats
