I don't know if this is a bug, but when a member does not have an avatar in their vb profile a red x shows up on the pp member info.
example for member Dana http://www.highperformancestangs.com...7&limit=recent |

Ok I see the red x with IE7, but not with Fire Fox
What browser are you using Chuck?
Here is the path on IE7 http://www.highperformancestangs.com...vatar310_0.gif |

Well something is not right here cause based on that it is picking up she has an avatar and based on this we think she has one cause of what the profile query is returning Code: Content visible to verified customers only.
It is returning $hasav as 1 which means she has one. You can post a test login here so we can see her forum profile. I see it in IE 7 only but usually use Mozilla.
What is returned from this query if you run it in vb? Make note to add any table prefix for vb you have Code: Content visible to verified customers only.

If it is a private photo then that is correct no one but admin should be able to view it and this is always been the case even with 5.5
The photo your trying to show me on 5.5 is not a private album photo so that is not a comparison to the beta install http://www.highperformancestangs.com...bs/launch2.jpg
If you have an issue with the avatars you can try comparing the 5.5 and 5.62 vb3.php files and use the function get_profiledata from the one file to the next.

When you click members galleries in 5.5 you will see a thumbnail of that gallery above every user. Reguardless if they have a private album.
In the 5.62 expample I have a 2 photos for burntire 1 in the members gallery and 1 in a private album. When you click members galleries there is no thumbnail above burntire. The software is looking private gallery for some reason and not displaying a thumbnail from the members gallery like 5.5
The issue is not viewing a photo problem. It is 5.6.2 is not genratating a thumbnail when a user have both a members gallery and a private album.
I have a bunch of members with private albums. The all have a thumbnail when using 5.5. None have a thumbnail with 5.6.2
This is a code issue.
I hope this makes sense now.
Thanks
Jeff

As already stated if it is a private photo it is not going to show as there last thumbnail. This has been the case for some time now.
As pointed out though your giving me two separate links and trying to make a comparison of features. As a user who does not have permission to see private albums I do not see private albums on any of your installs so I really can't say anything here cause both installs look to be performing correctly.
In relation to what I am saying about. Your 5.62 site is has no thumbnail for your gallery cause the last uploaded photo is a private album and since no one has permission to see it there is no thumbnail there. In your 5.5 install your last photo is a publically displayed photo from the members gallery. There fore in both instances they perform fine. If you do not want to have the members gallery show a blank thumbnail then you can elect in admin to set the option to not show the last photo uploaded in the members gallery which will give you a little different layout without thumbnails. This is what you select for when you have tons of members in your situation with private albums no one has permission to see.

Ok
Thanks that makes sense, but I just loaded a private photo to my gallery on 5.5 and the thumbnail still shows when I view it as a guest. A few other members have had their last photo as a private one and their thumbnails still show also with 5.5
Everyone has a thumbnail on 5.5 regardless of what the last photo type was.
When I upgrade to 5.62 all the people with private galleries loose their thumbnails.
I just upload 2 photos to the screen name test.
The last one updated went to a private album.
The thumbnail still shows from the members gallery. http://www.highperformancestangs.com...rs.php?cat=500
I tested what you are saying in 5.6.2 about if the last photo is private there is not thumbnail and it works, but that is not the case in 5.6.2?
Maybe I just don't get it?
I will email you a user name and password for the forum.

Well then I think 5.5 has a bug that was fixed in 5.6 release is what it is. You should under no circumstances in photopost every see a private album photo thumbnail anywhere unless you are an admin or a person who has permission to see that photo.
Your 5.62 beta install clearly shows me your last photo is a private album photo and I do not have permissions to see it and this is how I am taking it right?

Ok forget about the 5.6.2 it is working as you explained above.
5.5 will always show the last public thumbnail, even if the last upload was a private photo. No member ever has a blank thumbnail when browsing the members gallery. It will always show the last public upload. It seems to ignore the private uploads when generating a thumbnail.
Use the user name and password I emailed to you and upload a private photo and see for yourself.
This is the only mod I have to 5.5 http://www.photopost.com/forum/showp...4&postcount=17
Is there a way to direct 5.6.2 to look at the last member gallery public upload instead of the last upload.
It makes no sense to me to have a blank thumbnail because the member uploaded a private photo. I makes it appear like the member has no gallery because there is not a click-able thumbnail.
He is an example.
The screen name Test has 2 photos. 5.5 & 5.6.2 each have the same 2 photos. The last photo upload in each was private.
5.5 http://www.highperformancestangs.com...cat=500&limit=
5.6.2 http://www.highperformancestangs.com...rs.php?cat=500
5.5 is showing the last public thumbnail uploaded not the last photo uploaded which was private. 5.5 is always looking at the last public photo when generating the thumbnail. Not the last photo upload.
5.6.2 has no thumbnail. It is looking at the last photo which was uploaded which was private.

Correct and this is how it is suppose to perform in 5.62 There was functionality changes to ensure better performance in rendering the members gallery.

So if a member has 100 photos in the public gallery and decides to upload a single private photo. How is one able to view the gallery if there is not a thumbnail?
Is there a way to direct 5.6.2 to look at the last member gallery public upload instead of the last upload.

You can always use the setting I noted in my post above to not display the last thumbnail in members gallery if this private photo thing is a common thing

Chuck
I modified the 5.6.2 showmember.php to get it to work like the 5.5 version.

There are several changes between 5.5 and 5.6.2 vb3 file and it is related to the avatar.
I attempted to use the 5.5 code. It gets rid of the red x, but it alos turns off all avatars for some reason.
Any suggestion to getting rid of the red x for members with no avatars? http://www.highperformancestangs.com...t&limit=recent |

I need to duplicate the issue but thus far can not. Please post the results of the query I posted early on. You did not do this so far. Check that the field2 column exists under your userfield table in vb |

Duplicate the problem by using IE7 on this thread to see the read x http://www.highperformancestangs.com...puser=310&sl=d
The read x occurs with every member with no avatar when using IE7.
This does not occur with 5.5 so it is related to a change in 5.6.2
field2 does exists.
