Bulk move assigned wrong photo to wrong person

Gallery #1 has 140 photos

Admin > Bulk Move

Move images from Gallery #1 to Members Gallery.

After move is complete and states that it is successful, you look at the images that got moved and they are no longer correct. The title and description is correct, however, it's replaced the photo with someone elses.

Did I do this incorrectly or is this a bug? I now, unfortunately, have about 2,000 photos that are incorrect.

I think we need alot more info here as bulk move doesnt change a userid it merely moves a photo and updates the cat variable

Please post the necessary info to assist.

An example of a bad move is this one:

This was moved (edit > move.. not a bulk move) from a private forum into Members Gallery.

Now it shows in two members gallery.

The gallery where it was moved to and should be:

http://www.gottapixel.net/gallery/sh...9185&nocache=1

and the wrong gallery (image is distorted)

http://www.gottapixel.net/gallery/sh...00/ppuser/8091

It does not appear to me the photo was ever moved but you used the copy to additional category thing. The image is being loaded correctly but the width of the image is being constrained. Let me look and do some tests

No, the image was not copied. The exact steps we took are as follows.

1. Uploaded the image to private gallery called "TEAM".
2. At a later date went to the image and under it clicked the Move/Delete link.
3. Changed the drop down menu from TEAM to Members Gallery
4. Pressed the Sumbit button.

At this point, it moved the image to tbog's Members Gallery AND it overwrote an image that Roxy had previously uploaded. The image that Roxy originally uploaded is now gone, and replaced with the image that was moved.

It should not be doing this. Moving an image to a members gallery should not overwrite random photos that others have uploaded at a previous time.

We do not have additional categories turned on.

Is there anyone besides me that has got a LO switched?

I was going through my gallery and discovered that my LO named "family" for the try-outs to the Gottapixel CT has been changed into someone elseīs!!!!!
The text in the description is mine but itīs someone elses family in the LO.....

I just want to know whatīs happenen - AND have my LO back....
In this case, we moved all the images that were in a gallery titled "Creative Team Try Outs" to the Members Gallery. Upon doing this, it went through and overwrote images.

Again, we are not copying images. We are moving them, either via the Move/Delete option or through the Bulk Move option in Admin.

Tbog's image was originally uploaded on 11/7.
Roxy's image was originally uploaded on 11/14.

How old is your Photopost and version? As if its very old this might be the issue cause I think older versions allowed files with the same name if they where not in the same cat. Thus if you moved them to another cat and they had the same name this could happen.

There should never be an issue with files overwriting one another in never versions of the software since we employ a file rename structure in place when photo is uploaded we check all photos to make sure the names are not the same.

Not much I can suggest in this case as you can not get that photo back without backups but Roxy can edit the photo and upload a replacement photo.

We are using version 5.5. I would really hope that this isn't considered an older version of Photopost since I downloaded it and installed it less then 2 months ago and all these issues are happening after the 5.5 install.

I'm aware that there is nothing you can do to fix what has already happened... I do expect Photopost to address the issue so that it stops happening in the future. I will however upgrade to 5.61.

If your using Photopost 5.5 there is literally no way that this issue could exist that I am seeing

This is the code in bulkupload.php

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
With this code basically what it does is check to ensure the uploaded file is not the same name as a file already present and renames it. So literally if I am understanding what your saying you did I dont see how that could ever happen in 5.5

You can do a simple test to confirm what I am saying.

Upload the same file twice to different categories and you will see that when the second one uploads its name will be slightly different. You can then move it as you did before and see that the action works perfectly. Now in way older Photoposts it only use to check filenames in the same category and thats why I said if you had a way old Photopost that I could see something like this happening and we did fix that a ways back to check all filenames

Chuck, did you try your own suggestion before posting? Since I don't see any activity under the test account, I'm assuming that you have not. I did what you suggested, and I'm sorry, but it does exactly as I have stated it does.

I will make it as clear as possible for you to reproduce. Please follow these directions exactly.

1. Create a photo and name it test1.jpg.
2. Create a second photo, different in appearance and name it test2.jpg.
3. Go to our gallery and using the account information that I have already provided, login.
4. Upload the first test1.jpg to "Blueprints by Brenda" gallery. Input information into the second screen, press submit.
5. Upload the second test1.jpg to "Color My Pixel" gallery. Input information into the second screen, press submit.

You will now have one the first test1.jpg image in one gallery, and the second test1.jpg image in another gallery.

6. Go into the Blueprints gallery, find your test1.jpg and click the MOVE/DELETE link.
7. Move the image to MEMBERS GALLERY and press submit.
8. Go into the Color My Pixel gallery, find your test1.jpg and click the MOVE/DELETE link.
9. Move the image to MEMBERS GALLERY and press submit.

Now, go view your members gallery. The second test1.jpg has overwritten the first test1.jpg. If you delete the second test1.jpg, your first test1.jpg will come up with "NO THUMBNAIL".

If you would like to verify that we are using 5.5, by all means, allow me to pm you information to an admin account. Heck, I'll even give you access to our server so you can take a look at our Photopost files.

Because I wanted to make sure this was not just "us", I went to 2 other sites that I know have Photopost up to date and did the steps above. The exact same results happened.

I tried to test it out in the gallery that is installed here on PhotoPost, but kept getting this error:

Quote:
Problem running JPEGTRAN:

"/usr/bin/jpegtran" -copy none /var/www/photopost/photopost/data509/test1.jpg

Error Code: 1

Also, I took a look at the code that you posted for bulkupload.php and compared it to the bulkupload.php code that is in 5.61. The code you posted is not the same as what is in 5.61 (downloaded 5 minutes ago to verify).

THE CODE YOU POSTED

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Here is the code from 5.61.

Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
Please note that the bolded red test in your code is NOT in 5.61's code.

Actually the file I got the code from was uploadphoto.php but mistakenly said bulkupload so that line is there. I have tried uploading a single file and it works but did not do bulkupload since you have not specifically stated you where doing bulkuploading. I would say the line you note should be there in bulkupload and that is the issue.

It works for me on my test site.

http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/show.../1297/ppuser/1

http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/show.../1298/ppuser/1

I will pass along for the build to be updated and $theext to be added. Really in reality we dont even need to do that cause we could do the query to check $realname. We have not used $theext in so long when we use to append thumb and med on images so its a carry over.

So until this is fixed, what do we need to do with current code so that when things are moved, it does not overwrite files?

Hello Chuck.

I created an account on your site, and did the same steps as what I did on my site, and it came up with the same results.

http://www.reeftalk.com/gallery/show...r/2729/cat/500

I uploaded test1.jpg (test one image) to the reef gallery.
I uploaded test1.jpg (test two image) to the coral gallery.
I then edited test1.jpg (test two image) and moved it to the members gallery.
I then edited test1.jpg (test one image) and moved it to the members gallery.

It overwrote the photo. Now both show the test one image. If I were to delete one, it would show no thumbnail for the other.

So this issue is in your gallery as well.

Solution?
