Need Help - can't upload images suddenly

Hi, my users and I can't seem to load images suddenly. We all get this no matter what we try to load:

Unable to move file [/tmp/php9KAH4i] [/home/myname/public_html/gallery/uploads/1/nameoffile.gif]

The only thing that changes is the nameoffile.gif is whatever the current image one attempts to load is...

Any advice? Thanks!

Now I am noticing that the Gallery folder seems to be empty when I look at it via ftp!

Normally, when I clicked on Gallery, it would open up to choices - data, etc. but now it seems empty! Was I hacked?

The images still seem to be there as I can browse the gallery and see everything and the url indicates that it is located in the Gallery folder (and I know from past experience these images are stored in there) but what would make the folders not be seen via ftp?

It would be nice to post a url here so we see what you see.

Your initial error tells me you have not set permissions on your uploads directory to 777 AT EVERY LEVEL.

Sorry Chuck, was afraid tor reveal private info which the url would. I pasted the error code in my first post. Anyway, I changed the permissions on the Gallery folder to 777 (I don't know how or why they changed, I haven't touched ftp in weeks) and was able to see the other folders! So, progress. I guess I have to manually and change each and every folder within? That's a lot of data folders!

OK, I changed many and came to a point where it would not let me change permissions any more. I went to go change the Upload subfolders and it said

Quote:
550 Could not change perms on /public_html/gallery/uploads/116: Bad file descriptor
Now when I go to upload an image it tells me my image is too small and must be 10 X 10, but I know the images I am loading are bigger than that.

This is where I currently am - not able to change all subfolders to 777 because of "bad file descriptors."

You might want to contact your host about this. Your uploads and data directories recursively need to be set to 777 and they should be able to assist you with your server error of bad descriptors.
