Thumbnails not being created

After upgrading to 5.5, I'm having an issue where thumbnails aren't being created all the time. It works some of the time, but a lot of the images that are being uploaded are missing the thumbnail. What I do now is approve them, and then edit the photo and rebuild the thumbnail. Bit of a hassle. Is there anywhere specific I need to look? I find it odd it works some of the time, so there has to be something going on there.

I am using GD2 and allowing 5 upload fields at once

I would suggest you make sure your using the latest download but if its only a few thumbs recheck your data directory permissions at every level

permissions are not tied to usergroups though are they? I'm able to rebuild the thumbnails without a problem myself, so I wouldn't think it's permission related. Are there any known issues with gd2?

thanks

I do not or have not heard of any issues like this where uploads work for one person but not another for thumbnail creation hense the generic lets start here post to check permissions on your data directory.

permissions all look good. I think i've narrowed it down to when it is, and is not happening. Whenever someone uploads to one of the existing categories, thumbnails are created just fine. But if they don't, it selects 'My Gallery' as the target location, which is when thumbnails aren't being created. I think I remember a setting somewhere to allow personal albums or something, which i turned off, so there shouldn't be a 'my gallery', should there? Either way, that's where it seems to go wrong.

thanks

argh, nevermind. Did a little more checking and found out that the 1, 2 and 500 folders inside the data dir were chmod 755, not 777. Seems to work properly now.

No problems it usually always comes down to permissions which is why I post over and over about it ;)
