5.5 Group by Member/Category issues

View the pics by the member and you will see that more pics show than just the pics member has uploaded into that category.

BTW using setting ...
Do you want Members Gallery to show all of a users photos? Yes

Clicking that members gallery takes you to showgallery cat 501 and say take mine ppuser 1 there are 5 photos no more.

Group by Member function should be ONLY of pics by the user in this category.

I'm presuming that the problem with Group by Member/Category is similar to the problem with Members Gallery viewing users pics leads to others pics

We've had to put on hold upgrading to our 3 other galleries till we can find a resolve for this as we can't have these functions only working at showgallery and not showphoto/ filmstrips or prev/next.

You must realize alot of suggestions given to you personally since we know you like things a certain way and we have been kind enough to help you out however we have stated I know quite a few times even in those past threads these are not flaws or bugs in our program.

However these 2 functions ... viewing pics of username in Member Gallery, and viewing pics of username in Group by Member are in concept at least only supposed to be for viewing a users own pics, which is fine in showgallery but needs tweaking when viewing showphoto filmstrip/next prev functions.

While it's true that our members are expected to upload photos into 'community' categories, in which the categories are comprised of pics by all members who have uploaded into these categories, what makes this software so special is that it also offers a way to preserve the integrity of a users uploaded photos so that the same and ONLY uploads by the users can be linked to and viewed in Member's Gallery or at Group by Member.

Now, I know it was possible through your generous assistance in 5.0>3, but we haven't figured out how to implement them for 5.5.

My questions are ...
1) Will this become standard in a future version?
... if so we will wait to upgrade
2) If not, is there a reason, ie, performance issue, or simply because the way it currently works is how you intend it to work, period.
...and if so ...
3) Should I request a personal paid customization service from you, as I know from past experience ... you can do what I need done

I can't answer as to what will be included but alot of the stuff I have noted for you in the past has been simple tweaks just for you and not something that is for the core product. There have been a few true bugs that have been passed onto Michael which he has addressed the fixed I sent and added them to the build but some things are just the way the program is designed and you have alternate ideas of how you want the program to operate for you. I help out when I can but supporting 3 products like I do and developing 2 products as well I simply can not just post code mods for everyone.

Yes I can always be contacted to tweaks. I do them as time allows after all the normal stuff is done but small things can be done cheaply and pretty fast.

We applied Micheal's suggestion so that Group by Member does not lead to other users pictures using the next/previous link.

This has worked fine in 5.3, but in 5.5 the url displays a %20
...../showphoto.php?photo=1282%20&cat=&ppuser=930

I believe that I applied Micheal's suggestion correctly.
Any idea of how to avoid having the %20 in the url ??

Otherwise, everything is working fine.

Michaels post has nothing to say about a url his is a query edit

Thus to know what your url issue is what edit did you make to the url make sure you have not applied any blank spaces in there

The tweak offered by Michael in the link in post #9 has resolved the issue of leading to other users photos in Group by Member /Category viewing.

The only place it leads on to other users photos is when viewing Slideshow.

If a suggestion can be offered to only show users pics in Group by Member/Cat in Slideshow that would be great.

For the time being we are going to turn off slideshow as I find that after I have viewed a number of pics using slideshow, which works fine, that my computer then becomes sluggish when I browse elsewhere. ... as if it is still trying to digest all the pics I have viewed.
This has always been like this though I've never mentioned it.

Since we don't use any JavaScript for the slideshow (as much as its been asked for); the only thing the slideshow does is refresh a page to the next page with limited headers/footers. I don't know what could cause the slowdown given the general lack of scripts running in the background from the slideshow.

After further investigation into the cause of my computer slowing down after viewing slideshow it was determined to be caused by the distance of my computer from my wireless router.
Sorry about that but I'm happy to say the slideshow works fine with a closer/better connection.

There are 2 remaining functions in Group by Member/category that a users pics lead on to others in the category:

Slideshow: The url shows as ...
/slideshow.php?photo=594&cat=506&slideshow=1&slidedelay=2&size=medium
ie, it needs ... &ppuser=1234 in the url to only find users pics per cat

More link: Using this link goes to all pics by all users in the category.
It would be great if this only went to pics by member/cat.

Finally is not just for personal needs that I request tweaks but hope that at least some will lead to improvements in this product for the community as a whole.
