Clicking "Upload Photo" Takes 60 seconds to load???!
Why in the world would it take 60-75 seconds to load the page when we click "Upload Photo"?
We are running a 5 server cluster with the best hardware around. We have a large site with over 110,000 images now. The more images we get, the more photopost craps out.
Do you have any idea why this page takes forever to load?
If you have a large site you may want to tweak your setup. PhotoPost is only as good as your PHP and MYSQL setup and limited by its limits
OK - - thanks for your help. Unfortunately, this is still a bug... " PhotoPost is only as good as your PHP and MYSQL setup and limited by its limits" doesn't really answer my question.
We've done all of the suggested changes. We have the latest PHP and the latest MYSQL. We are running in a HA clustered environment with the top hardware money can buy. The problem is with photopost. Our PHP and MYSQL seem to be perfect for Fusionbb, UBBthreads, and a whole host of other softwares running at VERY high levels. Photopost is the only one of the bunch that just can't handle the traffic.
As confirmed by your link and post, photopost may not be built to handle sites with more than 100K images or with high volumes of traffic. This is unfortunate, since we feel like Photopost is one of the reasons we were able to grow so large...
We are running into all kinds of problems now....
images are showing up under the wrong users (happened in the past, happening much more often now), SLOW page loads, MYSQL locking up only photopost dbase locks up (all others on the servers are totally fine).
I have figured out what one of the problems is. If you are an admin and you click "upload photos", it loads ALL of every users albums in the album drop down. This is problematic. We have over 5000 user albums. Where is the admin setting to turn this off? Or is there a simple hack so that we can turn this off?
This one query locks up photopost dtabase nearly every time.
images are showing up under the wrong users?
If you changed your forum integration to another and did not take note of what the other forums importer did to userid's on your new forum this would explain this. I have seen people do this before and wonder why this happens.
Now as far as your album situation
In pp-inc.php find this
That albums fix worked like a charm. Very nice. That should help things considerably. This might be nice to add to the software as an admin option so it can be turned on and off. Any sites with a lot of albums will run into major issues with this.
No... these are new users uploaded new photos and randomly they get uploaded to the wrong users account. It's VERY strage indeed. We're not sure what's causing it, but it's happening more lately. Could it be something to do with the 2 step upload process? If a user starts to upload photos, then give up half way through, where are those photos kept? Are they cached somewhere... when another user logs in, maybe they are seeing other users photos there an accidentally adding them to theirs. that's all I can think of... I'm at a loss.
By the way, we are doing all of the suggested steps for large sites to reduce load...but we don't have the latest version with cach built in. We contemplated building somethign like this on our own for that index page but I'm relieved that you guys have done it. This should help. We'll upgrade to the latest version soon and try it to see if it helps.
okay well I would suggest you upgrader and go from there. I do also think we made some slight changes in the fusion integration as well
