Zip issues

I’m getting 2 errors both pertaining to zip files.

error 1. When I try to download a zip file located im my favorite’s folder I get this error.
(Call to undefined function: gzcompress)


error 2. When I try to upload a zip file I get this error.
(Abort pclzip.lib.php : Missing zlib extensions)


Any help on this would be nice....

You do not have zlib etc installed on your server it would appear.
