Was working now can't upload anything???

I have moved this from the enthusiasts fourm to here because this is more of a bug than a question.

Something really wierd has happened to my ability to upload photos. It has something to do with one particular computer. Ordinarily, I'd think it was just my computer but it works for everything else.

Problem: I get an error, everytime I try to upload. I get to the upload form select a photo, upload it and an error is returned. Click this link to see the error

After I first installed PhotoPost, I noticed this after uploading 4 or 5 photos but it eventually went away. I then uploaded over 120 phtoso. Now it's back.

What I have found so far:
  • All of my other PhotoPost functions work ok. I can edit, rotate, delete, and have all my admin functions. Just can't upload photos.
  • Everything else related to the internet works fine from this computer (Email, browsing, FTP).
  • I have previously (yesterday) uploaded over 100 photos on this same computer. But can't upload any more.
  • I have the same problem if I'm logged in as user or admin
  • Other people can upload photos and I can upload from another computer
  • I have verified that my rights allow me access to the PhotoPost software and do get the "upload" prompt
  • I have verified that I'm not exceeding any disk space or file quota
  • My server has plenty of disk space
  • I haven't modified the software in any way.
  • I have cleared cookies, thinking it might be related to them
  • I have turned off all virus scan and firewall software
  • This is my pp admin settings
None of this helps solve this problem.

Is there any setting or any mode I can be in that will prevent uploading of photos to photopost, but allow every other internet operation to work? Very puzzling

Any suggestions?

Sorry this does not sound like a photopost bug

If everyone else can upload and you can upload on another computer it sounds like an issue with that computer or your connection on that computer

Sorry no ideas here other than that

I think you jumped the gun with that answer. It still could have something to do with configuration... possibly. That's why I asked.

That doesn't exclude PhotoPost from having a problem. There is clearly a connection to PhotoPost, because absolutely everything else with my browser on this laptop works fine.

I don't know what the problem is but I can prove the correctness of my statement by an example of how a computer might work on one web site and another not, and have something to do with how the program (web page) works. If I have javascript turned off on one machine and on on another, I might find some web sites work on one computer and not another. AND that would have a connection to the kind of program or web site that I was looking at.

That is why I posted it here. Perhaps others have come up against this and have a solution.

I don't think I jumped the gun

Our uploading process depends on software on the server not your computer

If ever last person can upload and you can upload on another computer then the issue has to do with that one personal computer and not our software which is on your server

Ok, I have done a test to rule out my Laptop and/or my PhotoPost installation. I uploaded a photo of an arrowhead to the PhotoPost site.

Guess what. It uploaded properly. The laptop uploades just fine to this site.

But I still can't upload to my site. I still get the
Code:
Content visible to verified customers only.
So, I believe this at least shows that there is some problem with my laptop communicating with the PhotoPost installation on my site, rather than being a problem with my laptop.

I still believe there is a subtle PhotoPost setup issue that is preventing me from uploading.

I believe the last two things I did was play with the watermarking settings. But I think I restored them to their original settings.

Found the source of the problem. Still haven't found the solution.

The photo I uploaded here, was small by requirements of the forum. So, I tried uploading the same photo to my site. It worked. Then I looked at the photo I was trying to upload. It was some pet photos I took last year with an 8mega pixel camera. The files were 1.9 Meg each. Those won't upload, for some reason. I have automatic resizing.

When I tested my other computer, I didn't have any of those large files and the ones that worked there, were smaller.

So, it appears that I can upload files from my 4 M Pixel camera (800-900K) but not my 8 M Pixel camera (1.9 Meg or so). Must be a setting somewhere for that. I have 1024 pixel width with automatic resizing but I don't see a setting for max photo upload size.

At least I know it's not really with my laptop. Now, to find a solution. I'm going now to check each of the options in the photopost control panel.

Well that the issue has nothing to do with Photopost or your comupter then now that you gave more info.

I figured you where uploading the same types of files on both computers

Your server's php maximum filesize is limited to 2MB and I bet the files your trying to upload are over this size.

You can edit your server's php.ini file and change the max fileupload size

If you can not change this then in edit usergroups make sure to set everyone's max filesize to a safe number like 1536 so they get an error message from the program instead of the nasty server die message of PHP
