What's with all the special characters and such in descriptions

This is a very crude interface to display special escape characters like \ in front of aprostrophes and text like this:
Quote:
When I say, "Show me your Marine face", this is what Lily does.
This was posted as a description to a photo and this is how it looks. Doesn't display quote marks and is Very hard to read.

Why can't this just display the text as written instead of putting escape characters and " around quote marks. Makes reading descriptions very difficult. I hope this will be fixed soon.

Well you should never have slashes I dont

in showphoto you can change this line

$desc = convert_markups( $desc );

to this

$desc = convert_markups( un_htmlspecialchars($desc) );

Thanks for the fix. I was getting the same in my descriptions for a picture when a member added " to their comments.
Wasn't getting any slashes.

Thanks,

I saw a slash in front of a sigle quote once, when I put it in a title. Didn't see it just now when I tested it so maybe it was just a glitch but it was there, once.

Dunno, maybe it had to do with this ...
'This' becomes \'This\' - photo upload Title/description
