Problems with oversized file uploads First, when users tried to upload a file that was too big, it just sent them back to their gallery, but didn't tell them that their file wasn't uploaded. I got help with that issue, but then I found out that even though they were now getting an error message, their file was getting stuck in queue and every time they'd go back and try to reupload a new file, the new one would get put in queue behind the rejected one, but nothing would be uploaded. I have done tests to be sure that this is what is happening. When the first member told me about it, I went in and took out the file size limits and then logged in with her user name and she had almost 15 images in queue because it was just stacking them up, but not sending anything through. In every other gallery I've been to, if I've tried to upload a file that was too big, I've gotten a standard message and been told that my file was too big. For some reason, this message isn't working in this new build and I don't understand why that was changed. I can point to specific galleries if I need to give an example of the error page I was expecting. I have removed all file size limits at this point until this is resolved because I don't want to confuse my members (or worse, tick them off). Can I please get some help with this? FYI, I am running 5.12, but I did upgrade the files suggested to replace in the 5.13 update. I am integrated with vBulletin. Thanks! Kathy Moore http://www.digiscrapdivas.com |
I would suggest you upload all file files except your config files from 5.13 I just tried on my install and it works fine There were 1 files which exceeded limits which do not appear in this list: KIMBERLYrz.jpg (exceeds filesize limit). Either remove files to make more room or reduce the size of the files you are uploading and then try again. I hit submit and the exceeded file is deleted and the other file is processed. I would think you have a mix of files on your server |
So how do I do this to be sure that I don't mess something up? I don't want to have to start all over...I'm afraid I need a bit more coaching than that. I can't imagine why this has happened to me in the first place. I did a fresh install of 5.12 at the same time I installed vBulletin and did no modifications to it at all. Can you please at least give me a list of which files not to replace? Thanks. |
You would replace ALL photopost files except the config-inc.php and config-int.php files. I just tried uploading two files to another photopost site with limits and it works fine so has to be something on your end with files |
I redownloaded and uploaded everything, copied the old config-inc and config-int files into the new folder and renamed it to the name of the old folder. Now it shows me logged in in the vBulletin header, but doesn't give me the admin option in the gallery menu...but does give me the register option. So, what happened? I copied both config files into the new folder. I'm going to change it back for now until you can answer this. |
new folder your loosing me here? To upgrade you overwrite the files in the existing folder except for the config files. Double check to ensure your config info is right Basically in your config if your vb license number is wrong you will not be logged in and same if your cookie settings are not right in the database Thats the normal login issues |
Your gallery login looks fine to me and your file upload warning is there so problem solved you had old files There were 1 files which exceeded limits which do not appear in this list: KIMBERLYrz.jpg (Your file exceeded our limit of kb. Please reduce the size of the file and try again.). Either remove files to make more room or reduce the size of the files you are uploading and then try again. |
No, Chuck, it isn't working correctly. I don't know where you were when you got that message, but I just tried to upload a file that was too large and the same old thing happened to me...it said my image was uploaded successfully and then went back to my index page without adding the photo. As for losing you, I've learned not to overwrite my files just because of things like this. Rather than replace the old directory, I uploaded everything to a new directory, copied the config files into it, renamed the old one to xphotopost and then renamed the new one to photopost. So, I did replace the old files, but I still kept the old installation intact. Perhaps by doing that, there is another step that I don't know about that needs to be done and that's why it isn't recognizing me. But, rather than leave it off or messed up, I simply renamed both folders again, thus pointing back to the original install until I can figure out what the problem is. As for login issues, I copied the config files from the old folder to the new one so they are exactly the same...so the login issues shouldn't have anything to do with those files. |
Your login surely looks integrated to me I am using your signin remember ;) Admin uploads are set to 100kb I uploaded two images the one you see on your install thats foreign and one that was like 150 kb I got the normal error message I was expecting which is this and I just did the same thing again and it works fine. If your doing something different then me please let me know There were 1 files which exceeded limits which do not appear in this list: KIMBERLYrz.jpg (Your file exceeded our limit of kb. Please reduce the size of the file and try again.). Either remove files to make more room or reduce the size of the files you are uploading and then try again. |
It is integrated now because I changed it back. I logged in as me and tried to upload a 107 kb file and the file was not uploaded, but I got no error message. It told me that the upload was successful but I was not redirected to the place to enter more info and the photo did not show up in my photos. So, I don't know why you're seeing something different than I am...??? . But, yes, my login is integrated right now because I switched back to the old folder. The new files are sitting there on the server in a folder with a different name. Thanks! |
Upload two files one smaller than the limit and one larger than 100k |
Okay, Chuck, I did get it when I tried to upload two files...but that's not how it always happens. So, how do I make that happen when they only try to upload one and it's too big? Thanks! |
Okay so it works when you upload two but not one. Just confirming what I am seeing although coming up with a fix is not going to be easy. |
Okay, but this isn't just me, right? |
It is a unique set of circumstances or combination of sequences needed to reproduce it. No one has ever seen this because for most people bulkupload results in processing multiple files not one. The way overfiles works is it allows the other files and gives you an error for the other files and deletes them. Now in your situation when using it for one image the file is dropped by PHP not the program resulting in the photocount being nullified so the program is tricked into thinking the photo has been uploaded before we can display the die message |
