uploadphoto.php not working / error(NOT A BUG)

I'm using Photopost 5.13 but this problem started before the upgrade (I hoped that the upgrade might have fixed things)...

The problem is that I cannot upload photos. Whenever I start to upload photos and click on the Upload/Submit button on uploadphoto.php I get a blank page in MS-Explorer with the error "cannot find server." However, if I push the refresh key in MS-Explorer, it refreshes with the prior uploadphoto.php screen. There is no change whatsoever in the URL that is being "refreshed."

Any idea what is going on here?

BTW, I get a similiar problem in Netscape so it doesn't appear to be related to the browsers.

Help!

Thanks. -- Rik

ps: my installation is at http://forums.travel.com/photos/uploadphoto.php

I dont seem to have any issue uploading to your install

http://forums.travel.com/photos/show...to=230&cat=500

Does it do this when your on another computer or just yours?

What size file uploads? Have you tried clearing your uploads directory?

Chuck:

1) I get the same results from 3 separate computers (home and office).
2) The files are about 300,000 bytes. The uploads directory is clear.

UPDATE BY RIK: DISMISS THE INDENTED MATERIAL BELOW. EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, THE MISSING CATS WERE NOT MISSING ACTUALLY. I JUST WAS LOOKING AT AN OLD TEST DIRECTORY WHICH IS NO LONGER USED.
However, I've found several oddities. I tried uploading to cat #567 and the upload was fine. I tried uploading to cat #568 and THAT CATGORY seems to be the problem all along (this was the last category I created). It is at the following location: http://forums.travel.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=568.

I telnet-ed into the PP data directory to look around. Interestingly, the highest number cat is #562. As indicated, I was able to upload to cat #567 and can see the photos for cat #567 but the highest cat in my data directory is #562.
So hopefully you might have other ideas with this further info?

Thanks and regards. -- Rik

Well if I where you I would check again as those directories exist. I just uploaded to cat 568 fine.

Your data directory for that cat definately exists as here is the actual file

Are you able to register a test name and upload?

Chuck:

FYI, I re-edited an earlier message above since the directories actually do exist (I had been looking at an abandoned directory from a prior install).

However, I get the same problem with a new test name and upload. However, I tried a smaller .jpg upload and that worked while the larger photo I was trying always gave the failure symptoms mentioned above.

Now, if its due to a file size error and I have no limits set for the administrator, what else should I be looking at?

Thanks. -- Rik

Depending on your filesize you could be trying to upload an file larger than your server settings allow and the error you get is a server one. The proper resolution is to edit your php.ini settings and give your php more memory and higher max upload size or in your photopost admin usergroup settings set the max allowed filesize based on your php setting
