allowing unregistered users to upload...(NOT A BUG) I don't know if I should make 1 thread for all the bugs I find or not???? If you allow unregistered users to upload images on the upload page some wording doesn't make sense: Disk space allowed on your account: Disk space used on your account: 0kb Disk space remaining for your account: It would be nice if there was a usergroup check and if the user was unregistered it had different wording. I guess I could change it to "usergroup", but that sounds kind of lame to have it globally set to that. Maybe it's just me. ANOTHER BIGGER BUG I found is that unregistered users can't even upload to cats that you assign them to. 1. I changed usergroups to allow unregged to upload. 2. turn off unregged uploading to member galleries. 3. Change default cat under "main" category from fresh install to an unregged cat that doesn't allow registered members to upload, but left the check for unregged since I changed their usergroup privs. 4. It takes the time to upload and then says: "Sorry, you don't have permission to upload photos." I've notice a lot of bugs with past Photopost versions too when it comes to allowing unregistered users to upload images. It seems to almost have been forgotten about, yet the check boxes are there for allowing it. This IMO is a major bug, I have double checked my settings and it should be allowing an unregistered user to upload. Can't use 5.13 until this bug is fixed as a main part of my site will be allowing unregistered users to upload. Please let me know how you want me to continue to report bugs, if you want them in seperate threads or not. This is the first day I have really begun to go through my install of 5.13 and I've found this many bugs. I'd hate to see how many I'm going to find in the first week. :( |
Johnny I would not classify anything your saying in this thread as a bug. Unregistered users surely can upload on any testing I do. http://photos.omegatron.net/showphot...hoto=2&cat=500 How is the language wording a bug? It is specific to every usergroup the settings and this looks right to me. Looks fine to me below Allowable Image Types: jpg, jpeg, png Maximum File Size: No file size limit. Disk space allowed on your account: Unlimited Disk space used on your account: 57kb (58,417 bytes) Disk space remaining for your account: Unlimited How we handle things is like this. Anything that is a bug is fixed ASAP. Anything we consider to work as intended is left alone and marked NOT A BUG. I show one bug report from you and it has been corrected. I would ask you to open a specific thread on each thing from this point on as thats how we like it. Things get all jumbled when users keep appending other things to threads and we can not guarantee top support in those situations as threads like that get hard to follow. Post an issue on not being able to upload as unregistered stating integration type url to install etc and I will try to assist. Biggest thing is please tell us whether you have altered any files. I know your heavily hacked site kept you from upgrading for along time so I need to know if you have attempted any hacks that may be interfering with things. |
OK. I will do on creating new threads on new things I find. This is a second installation of Photopost. I started creating the site and was almost done and then I saw that 5.13 contained the much wanted .htaccess prevention of hotlinking to the large images so basically I have started over from stratch with 5.13, but I believe in the long run it will be worth it SINCE I don't like to upgrade it will be the version I am running on this new site for a while. So this is a fresh install, no hacks. So far I've only edited the langauge file and removed "powered by photopost". So no editing of actual code. Let me read you off my settings for registered users and unregistered users: Usergroups: Registered: Yes on upload Unregged: yes on upload On the categories: Member Galleries: Everybody is checked in the cat options except "Unregistered" because I don't want them to upload and have their own gallery because it creates 1 gallery that is marked "Unregistered" so this is unchecked. Unregistered Users: The only other cat I have is "Unregistered Users" that is just a regularly created cat. (It's actually the cat from the default cat that I just renamed and removed it from the "main" cat. So this "Unregistered Users" cat is a top level cat. (Dunno if that makes a difference with why it's not working.) In this category options I have all the "Usergroup Access Permissions" the defaulted checked (all checked) except "Registered" because I don't want registered users to be able to post their images in this category. That is how I have it setup and it gives the error I mentioned above. As far as I see the permissions should allow the unregistered users to upload to this category, but it won't. |
It looks like I got it working now, I am still testing it to see why it wasn't working again. I think it could have had something to do with where I was when I clicked the upload photos button. In reply to the above comment about the: Disk space allowed on your account: Unlimited Disk space used on your account: 57kb (58,417 bytes) Disk space remaining for your account: Unlimited I think the main thing that doesn't fit is YOUR account. Unregistered means they don't have an account, and so once you grow and allow a bunch of unregistered users to post it's going to say "Disk space used on YOUR account: 50 MB" If it could be changed to something that would fit both unregistered and registered users I can see it being a langauge file line fix, but to me it seems like it needs to say one thing for all usergroups EXCEPT unregsitered should say something different because they are the ones that don't have an account. That's the whole purpose of being unregistered so to give stats on an account that isn't even theirs seems a little stupid, especially when the stats are shared in some cases between 100s of users. I will report back what I find on unregged uploading images. |
OK I found it. When you are unregistered, click the upload image from the main index page and upload 2 or more upload fields and it will give you the permissions error. I tried it with different images and it did it both times. I currently have 5 fields and it does it when all 5 are filled, when 2 are filled, but works if it's a single image. Hope this helps. |
multiple upload prompts? |
start a new thread on this uploads issue The language wording is specific and correct on settings cause remember you can set a filesize and diskspace uploadlimit etc for unregistered users. So this information is correct and proper to display |
